Our lives are saturated in victory

I have been thinking about the past and how the enemy tries to use it to drag me down.  But the thing is, however hard he tries, as long as I keep my eyes on God he will fail.  Was talking to my counsellor about my scars the other day and how I still feel a degree of shame when I look at them.  With summer coming it’s hard to always keep them covered so I need to learn to embrace them.  They are part of my story but they also reflect the victory God has wrought in that area of my life.  So, looking at them positively is a much better tactic than the negative, shame filled way. Embrace your past, it makes you who you are and shows you how far God has brought you.

1 John 4:4 – You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, what a name, Jesus is the name above all names, and we claim the victory in his name, victory over death, victory over fear, victory over all the little things that we can’t clear from our heads, the thoughts that nag away night and day, gone, defeated, our lives are saturated in victory, our sinful nature history, our story is one of overcoming, a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, twists and turns, as we learn to discern the voice of God, listening hard as the enemy raises the sound, shouting his deceit and his lies in his urgent quest to reclaim our lives, as he sharpens the knives we put on our armour, the army of God is on the move, nothing to prove for the victory was claimed when Jesus conquered the grave, but we march for the Lord, we march for his Kingdom, greatness is his and we want to witness, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus his name is power, his name the name above all names.

I’ve developed a faith and it’s bearing good fruit

It’s sometimes hard to recognise the power that is in us or at least believe that we have the same power as Jesus.  But when I think that the Holy Spirit now lives in me and consider how I am changing, I start to get it.  I am not just a new creation, I am a new creation with the power and might of Jesus within me, I just need to learn to harness this power to live out my anointing to bind up the broken hearted, heal the sick and free the captives.

The Holy Spirit gives me love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).  The Holy Spirit gives me wisdom (James 1:5).  The Holy Spirit makes me peace loving, submissive, full of mercy and a yielder of good fruit (James 3:17).  The Holy Spirit is there for me in my weakness and helps me to pray effectively (Romans 8:26).  The Holy Spirit helps me to resist and overcome Satan (James 4:7)

At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow, at the name of Jesus demons will flee, the prisoners will be set free, at the name of Jesus a power is released like you’ve never before seen, power to heal, power to raise the dead to life, power to overcome wars and strife, at the name of Jesus I proclaim I am redeemed, baptised in water and baptised in the Spirit, my life changing daily as I challenge the limits of human understanding, as God is transforming me through his Spirit, I’m growing in wisdom,  resisting temptation, I’ve even found patience despite my weakness, growing in kindness and goodness, I’ve developed a faith and it’s bearing good fruit,  resolute in my prayer, I’m becoming effective in battling and fighting the lies and deception of Satan who comes to kill, steal, destroy, but instead I’m filled with uncontainable joy

I’m no longer concerned about public opinion

Jesus calls each of us by name.  If you are reading this as a Christian there will have been a moment in time when Jesus called your name, and you responded.  It came to me today that Mary Magdalene was the first person called by the risen Lord.  The first of us who believed in our “risen” Saviour.

  • John 20:16 – Then Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him, “Rabboni.” The Aramaic word “Rabboni” means “Teacher.”

She is the model we should all follow, what did she do when Jesus called her name.  She went and told others that she had seen Jesus.  This is exactly what Jesus calls us to do.

  • Matthew 28:19 – Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

He has called me by name and I am his, he has called me, my name was on his lips, my name that was engraved on his hands spoken out loud, picked out, selected, not just one of the crowd, chosen by Jesus to be victorious, elected to receive his glorious grace, a place reserved for me in his heavenly Kingdom, I’m no longer concerned about public opinion, cos he who counts the stars and knows them by name is the same God who has redeemed me and called me by name, he sees me as worthy to no longer go thirsty, his rivers of living water flow through me, he calls me to share, to dare to be bold, to speak life into those who are weary or out in the cold, he calls me to go out, make disciples of the nations, his desire that all will receive his salvation.

The Lord marches out for you

The other night someone prayed for me that I would really come to see the different characteristics of God as I continue on my walk with him.  My Bible studies this week have really helped me with this as I have seen the sheer power of God, the size of God and his capabilities, I have also seen that God is a God of compassion and of love and in a personal moment of prayer saw that God also has a sense of humour.  I want to continue this journey as I seek to know God even more intimately and learn about all his amazing ways.

Isaiah 42:13 – The Lord will march out like a champion, like a warrior he will stir up his zeal; with a shout he will raise the battle cry and will triumph over his enemies

My God calls us by name, he takes the hand of those who don’t know the way, turns their darkness to light, their sins become like the morning mist, returning to the Lord as he loves to forgive, our offenses are swept away like a cloud, the rough places levelled, new things spring forth for those who put their trust in the Lord, trust in his might and power, don’t fight the hands that are holding you for this is the creator who’s about to do something new, the Lord who marches out for you, your champion, a mighty warrior, with a shout he raises a battle cry and triumphs over our enemies, a gentle Saviour who will not break a bruised reed nor snuff out a smouldering wick, he redeemed us to be a lighthouse to the nations, he is my Lord, my inspiration, he loves to love, he’s slow to anger, he’s quick to forgive and he protects me from danger, he delights in spending time with me, he desires that all mankind will be with him in eternity, he believed in me , he freed me, forgave me and made me, when I pass through deep waters he is with me, when I wake in the morning he still holds me, when I lie down by still waters he comforts me and when I walk through the valley of the shadow of death he is with me.

God will give me a name that I can claim as my own

I was looking through some of my favourite verses and one which is really special for me is:

  • Isaiah 49:16 – See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.

I read this quite early on in my walk with God and it’s an amazing thing to feel so loved by our God.  I suppose when you think about it the palm of the hand must be a very painful place to have a tattoo due to the sensitive skin there, but God would go through any pain for us.  It also means he can see our names at any time by just looking down at his hands, we are constantly in his thoughts and on his heart.  I suspect that the name is just a window to the countless thoughts he holds for us.

When thinking about this today I discovered these two verses which are new to me and was blown away, I’m going to have a “God given name” something that is just between me and God…WOW.

  • Revelation 22:4 – They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
  • Revelation 2:17 – Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.

A tattoo, a constant reminder, an indelible mark of my name, claimed by God, branded on his palm, an emotional attachment symbolic of an intimate relationship, a deep lasting covenant of love characteristic of God’s deep thoughts towards me, a window into how he sees me, not just a name nor a symbol but a reflection of the myriad thoughts he has of me, how he sees me as a completed saint, righteous and free, fulfilling my destiny as a child of the King and this thought fills me with praise, when I finally see his face his name will be engraved on my forehead denoting that I am free through the blood of Jesus shed for me and get this a new name will be given to me and only I will know it, intimate and personal, God will give me a name that I can claim as my own, he will call me by name and I can claim that intimacy, unconditional love from a Father who loves me eternally.

I have a mustard seed and I’m not afraid to use it

A customer of mine came running into the shop to show me a short video clip of a healing service in a local church on Sunday.  The lady in the clip was a friend of her daughter who had a hip problem, one leg was literally shorter than the other.  After prayer for healing her leg grew WOW yes it actually grew and you can see that in the video.. faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains..  I am still blown away by that today how great is our God and I am even more inspired that my prayer be led by scriptures/God’s word to claim his miracles in our world today.

Matthew 17:20 – He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Acts 1:8 – But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;

John 14:12-14 – Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see

Let’s move mountains, God’s got this, I have a mustard seed and I’m not afraid to use it, redirecting my focus from the barrier before me, lifting my eyes to our all-conquering God, endless opportunities, outrageous possibilities all waiting on the name of Jesus, living God’s way all things are possible, Jesus opens the door to the miraculous, he stills the storm, moving forward against the tide, I’m on the border of the promised land my gaze fixed on Jesus and I see light with my heart where my eyes saw darkness, God living in me, I am a carrier of his presence so I talk to the problem in the name of Jesus, a hearer and doer of God’s word I walk with eyes of faith not fear, as I draw near, God enters, miracles happen, prayer moves mountains God does not fail, God nails it, let’s face it how big is the problem on a scale of one to God? Open your heart, invite God into every circumstance, he does not fail you, get up and walk, open your eyes, close your ears to the enemy’s lies, I have power in me, Jesus has promised me that anything I ask in his name is mine to claim, my faith is confidence in all he has promised and an assurance that although I have not yet seen, God is the supreme God, ruler of all the nations, of whom or what shall I fear, here I am Lord use me your servant, for your mustard seed is planted and you have granted me power and authority in the mighty name of Jesus.
