Break out of this cage of limitations and fly like a bird

You hear it said often enough, God will make a way.  But how awesome when you just feel it all coming together.  I don’t know yet what God has planned for me, but I feel a shift in circumstances and I know that God is on the move.  At the moment, I have so much going on, I am selling one of my businesses, I have just finished the first draft of my first book and things are happening within my family.  Some of the stuff that is happening is good, some, like the family stuff, is not so good.  But I know that all things work together for good for those who love God.  So, I wait with excited anticipation to see what comes next, God is good and I just feel that his plans are going to be way better than anything I could have planned.

Isaiah 43:16 – This is what the Lord says—  he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,

Isaiah 43:18-19 – Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Thanks God, I just know that you are on the move, working out my path, the twists and turns are visible now, the clouds are lifting, no longer drifting through the days, I gaze intently to the future, I long to see what the ruler of the universe has prepared for me, my destiny mapped out in your book, oh how I long to take a look, to take a sneaky peek at the page, to break out of this cage of limitations and fly like a bird with no condemnation, no longer subject to accusation, to live as the new creation that you have made me, to live entirely for you, to speak and love and serve for you, to break out of the wilderness and the wasteland, to stand on the mountain top claiming my place, as a bone fide member of God’s chosen race.

My eyes are drawn to the mountains

My daily reading today is about God guiding his people. What is talked about was that God always takes us the best way and not the shortest way.

  • Exodus 13:17-18 – When Pharaoh let the people go, God did not lead them on the road through the Philistine country, though that was shorter. For God said, “If they face war, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” So God led the people around by the desert road toward the Red Sea. The Israelites went up out of Egypt armed for battle

That is such an important lesson for me, be patient, God is getting me to the destination but he knows the best way to go.  It may be longer, it may be more challenging but it will prepare me and build me on the way.  Everything he does, everywhere he takes me, everything he shows me is part of his amazing plan for my life.

  • Ephesians 1:10 –  Then when the time is right, God will do all that he has planned, and Christ will bring together everything in heaven and on earth.

Everything in heaven and earth is coming together, when the time is right I will hear the crash of heaven touching earth, the plans God had since before my birth accomplished, the devil’s plans abolished as I claim all God has promised, the path is not so clear right now, the direct line obstructed but that’s OK for he has instructed me to fear not, his plans for me are full of success and promise, and just maybe he’ll use this diversion to demolish parts of me that are no longer needed, to water the seeds and tend to the soil, to oil the cogs and pull up the weeds, let’s face it his plans are sublime and as I reflect that I am his, I remember that he is mine, he holds me in the palm of his hands, so as I pass through desert sands, my eyes are drawn to the mountains where I know the fountain of living water flows, which way will he take me there, only God knows….

Behold I am doing something new, and that my child begins with you

I read a great prophetic word this morning which spoke deeply to my heart, that showed me God does indeed hear us as we cry out to him and he is constantly working on our plans and our purpose.  I want to spend some quality time with God over the next few days to see what he has in store for me, so I commit to “come away” with God so that he can lift me up to see my open door.

Revelation 4:1- After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.’

Come away with me, I will lift you up to see your open door, my purpose not about you but the lives you will impact, grasp the significance of that, I want to show you what must take place in your life, not just sacrifice but the courage to let me take control, faith to wait while the storms rage and knowledge to recognise my highlighted way, I am working in your life right now, trust me to show you the direction you should be heading, what I mean for you won’t pass you by, you are being perfected by me, rest with me, turn your heart to mine, listen and you will find me, I have great and unsearchable things to tell you, plans to prosper and not to harm you, be still and know that I am the great I AM, your God and King, behold I am doing something new, and that my child begins with you.

I prefer to ask, knock and receive the best of the best

I have been stressing for a couple of weeks over a major business decision.  Don’t get me wrong I have been talking to God about it but I also have been a bit fixated on the decision as well.  Today I kind of figured that God doesn’t want me to give it to him and then to stress cos I’ve not had a loud word from the heavens above declaring what I should do. God works in mysterious ways and he works in subtle ways.  It’s not all about a booming voice telling us what to do but about God leading and directing us, by references in scripture, by words of friends or family members and by a feeling in the soul which is Holy Spirit led.

Today I made that decision and I feel at peace with it.  God is good, he has helped me make the decision but also has taught me a valuable lesson whilst going through that decision-making process not to stress or worry but just be calm and wait patiently for God to act, it almost certainly will be in a way you don’t expect!

Psalm 138:7 – Though I walk in the midst of trouble you preserve my life. You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes; with your right hand you save me

When I walk through the storm I do hold my head up high, why, because when I walk through the midst of trouble you preserve my life, you’ve got my back, you fight my corner, when I forget to put on my armour you stretch out your hand against the enemy, you prevent him from getting at me, you remind me that I am free, freedom earned not by me but by Jesus who died for me and that freedom means yes I can choose the path I want to walk but I prefer to talk to you and listen to your plans for me, I prefer to ask, knock and receive the best of the best, but I need to learn to rest in you, to ask then wait, to knock and not get impatient when the door is not unlocked immediately, to seek and be meek as I humbly wait for your answer, and I know that you are training me, training for reigning, how amazing, train me God, guide me and lead me, believe me I will put in every effort to get it, every effort to understand the plans you have for me, I am the clay and you are the potter, mould me, shape me into your favourite daughter!

Tell me what you like about me Jesus

So one of my friends gave her life to Jesus on Saturday at the Alpha course (AWESOME!!).  It has been so exciting to see the gradual change in her as she has started to explore faith and I am super excited to see her continue in that walk over the next weeks, months and years.

Got me to thinking how God designed us all and when he made us I am sure he had a perfect end product in mind.  When we become Christians I feel like that is the time that the refining process really starts.  Up until then we have been doing it our way but as soon as we ask Jesus in he can start the real work in us, moulding us into his perfect, special, new creations, gradually refining us to become more like him every day.

Psalm 18:19 – He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.

God designed me exclusively, his plans for me perfect and I am worth it, see everything I know about God shows me that I must be worth it, his thoughts for me outnumber the grains of sand, my name is engraved upon his hand, he died for me, what other explanation can there be but that he loves me so completely, so perfectly, do I dare take a look at what he sees, ask him to reveal to me the glory of my perfect body in eternity, ask him to tell me what he likes about me, what part of my personality is most appealing, what part of my thoughts are most revealing, ask him to mould me, shape me, continue to refine me in his burning fire, breathe life over me, source the rivers of living water flowing through me, delight in the truth that God designed me exclusively and rescued me simply because he delighted in me.

God’s plan is perfect, his project management extravagant

I was reading today about stepping out in faith.  Sometimes easier said than done but it is amazing how God provides for people.  I was given a book to read this week with a strange title – Two Pork Chops, but in it the author is telling of a number of miracles that happened in his life including the provision of two pork chop dinners (found frozen and covered in foil in a hedgerow!) when he was working for God in faith.  If God says to us, do this work, he will provide, we know his plans are even greater than we can imagine, the question is are we strong and bold enough to do what he asks us to do?

  • Isaiah 6:8 – Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’
  • Proverbs 3:6 – in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight
  • Joshua 1:9 – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’

Step into an invincible future but don’t forget to listen for God’s voice in everything you do and everywhere you go, he’s the one who will keep you on track, don’t look back, fix your eyes on the prize ahead, press forward, follow God even when you don’t know the way, here I am Lord send me, can you say that confidently, to boldly follow, to do the impossible, to be more than a conqueror, to step out in faith, don’t stay in the boat when God’s calling you to walk on the water, don’t think I can’t do that I don’t have the resources, God’s plan is perfect, his project management extravagant no stone will be left unturned, no detail overlooked and OK so you may be nervous but how can you do his service if you fail to step out of the comfort zone, yes there’s safety in apathy you see you can’t fall if you don’t climb but what joy is there from living your whole life on the ground? God wants you to let go of you and hold on to him, take the step of faith and go places you never dreamed, he’s nudging you right now and the way I see it your only method of transportation is to take that leap of faith, for it is by grace you have been saved, not to hide in the shadows like a dazed rabbit but to take control, walk through the valley, keep going for no evil can overcome as God guides your footsteps, one small step and OK so it may seem impossible but let me remind you our impossible is God’s reality and he is waiting to see that spark, that glimmer of light that convinces you that the time is right to confront your fears, claim your fearless spirit, look into the eyes of your heavenly Father and say OK this is it.

The crucifixion was not fiction

Do we know what God wants us to do?  Do we ask him each day for guidance?  I have to admit that some days I forget to ask for his guidance and just go headfirst into my day with no plan.  Yet he clearly tells us that his word is the lamp for our feet, he guides us and when we follow his commands we will find delight and joy.

As I started to write this I was sent a link to a daily devotional which talks about having a true belief that God is guiding your steps, and if you really believe he is doing that then why would you question or doubt his way for you?

So I resolve to spend more time in prayer to find out what God’s plans are and then be obedient to his call.

  • Psalm 119:35 – Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.
  • Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Belief, confidence and trust no matter the cost, conviction that the crucifixion was not fiction, your death the breath of life required for human salvation, as nation rises up against nation, neighbourhood tensions rise, man despises man, you have a plan, your plans to prosper and to save, your plans erupted from the grave as you tore through death, the enemy shattered on his knees as you seized victory, death where is your sting and now I sing of all that God has done for me, I seize the opportunities that he has planned for me, direct my path Lord as you sit at God’s right hand, show me the way, hear me as I pray, make your word come alive and in your words may I find delight.
