I am far more than my past and will be so much more in my future

Was reading this verse today and realised that it means that even adversity is used to achieve God’s plans for our lives.  So, what the enemy means for harm, God uses for our good, to build us and lead us to greater things.  We are called for a purpose and whatever happens, I believe God will get us back on track and in the right place, as we are obedient and love him before all other things.

Romans 8:28 – And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose

You can’t stop me, throw me a curve ball and I’ll throw it back to you, mock me and taunt me and I’ll block my ears to you, speak lies and deceit to me and I’ll tighten my belt of truth, tell me I’m not good enough and I’ll show you my breastplate of righteousness, as you try and get into my head, your words of elation are blocked by my helmet of salvation, wipe that smile off your face, no matter how much hate you put in my path I will laugh without fear, cos my God is near to me, my shield, my fortress, I have been called according to his purpose, I will not be defeated, I will not fail, I am far more than my past and will be so much more in my future, I am a new creature, child of God and no matter how hard you try to knock me off balance I will not be challenged, if God is for me who can be against, he is my strength and my defender, I am his daughter, his beloved, his splendour

I’m no longer concerned about public opinion

Jesus calls each of us by name.  If you are reading this as a Christian there will have been a moment in time when Jesus called your name, and you responded.  It came to me today that Mary Magdalene was the first person called by the risen Lord.  The first of us who believed in our “risen” Saviour.

  • John 20:16 – Then Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to him, “Rabboni.” The Aramaic word “Rabboni” means “Teacher.”

She is the model we should all follow, what did she do when Jesus called her name.  She went and told others that she had seen Jesus.  This is exactly what Jesus calls us to do.

  • Matthew 28:19 – Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

He has called me by name and I am his, he has called me, my name was on his lips, my name that was engraved on his hands spoken out loud, picked out, selected, not just one of the crowd, chosen by Jesus to be victorious, elected to receive his glorious grace, a place reserved for me in his heavenly Kingdom, I’m no longer concerned about public opinion, cos he who counts the stars and knows them by name is the same God who has redeemed me and called me by name, he sees me as worthy to no longer go thirsty, his rivers of living water flow through me, he calls me to share, to dare to be bold, to speak life into those who are weary or out in the cold, he calls me to go out, make disciples of the nations, his desire that all will receive his salvation.

Believe in him and you will not be disappointed

Was reading about Jesus being the “cornerstone” today and realised this is spoken about a number of times in the Bible and is so important, building our faith on Jesus is essential if he is not the anchor or cornerstone then our faith could so easily crumble.

  • Romans 9:33 – just as it is written, “behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, and he who believes in him will not be disappointed.”
  • Isaiah 28:16 – therefore thus says the Lord God, “behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone, a costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed. He who believes in it will not be disturbed.
  • 1 Peter 2:7-8 – this precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for those who disbelieve, “the stone which the builders rejected, this became the very corner stone,” and, “a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this doom they were also appointed.
  • Job 38:4-6 – “where were you when I laid the foundation of the earth? Tell me, if you have understanding, who set its measurements? Since you know. Or who stretched the line on it? “On what were its bases sunk? Or who laid its cornerstone,
  • Acts 4:10-12 – let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom god raised from the dead–by this name this man stands here before you in good health. “He is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the chief corner stone. “And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

Jesus Christ our cornerstone, he alone is the foundation of our salvation, believe in him and you will not be disappointed, nor disturbed, he returned from the grave to save us, rejected and despised by man, nailed to a cross, written off, no better than a criminal, but his resurrection was pivotal in bringing us closer to our God who loves us, Hallelujah, Jesus the anchor, protecting us with a tenacity that defies rationality, we humble sinners figure in God’s plans and that includes me, God is my backbone, he alone supports me, he has radically changed me and continues to be the mainstay of my life, his sacrifice alone enough to draw me close, his love enough to drive me to want to protect others from stumbling and falling, my calling, who knows, only God holds the cards, he rewards us for our faithfulness, I know he has a plan for me and I wait patiently, for in God is my belief, with him in my corner I shall succeed.

I trust my unknown future to God

If God is for me who can be against me?  Think about it, if God is on your side then it doesn’t matter about anything else, anyone else, he is fighting all our battles, just rest in his amazing grace.

  • Psalm 144:2 – He is my loving God and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer, my shield, in whom I take refuge, who subdues peoples under me.
  • Romans 8:31 – What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
  • John 14:8 – Philip said, ‘Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us
  • 2 Timothy 4:17 – But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.
  • Jeremiah 20:11 – But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonour will never be forgotten.
  • 1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
  • Revelation 3:8 – I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

I am radically loved by God who has opened doors for me no man can close, who knows what’s around the corner but I trust my unknown future to God, no reason to fight the arms that are holding me, with God I have all I need, my reason to live and I’ll never have a reason to quit with God fighting my corner, he is a mighty warrior, even stopped the sun for Joshua, defeated a giant for David he is my light and salvation, who then shall I be afraid of, he stands at my side, provides an escape route when things get on top of me, he will not allow me to be tempted any more than I can deal with, he lived and died for my salvation, I may not realise now what he is doing, but revelation will come and no one can stop the plans God has for me, with God on my side the enemy is defeated and  I am seated with God in heavenly places

God became the signatory of our salvation

Was reading Ephesians 1 this morning and it just struck me again how amazing it is that we were chosen before time began, chosen (hand picked) by God and then all the blessings that God gives us his children..just reinterpreted this chapter in my own style

Searching for answers, far and wide, yet In Christ I found out who I am and what I am living for, chosen, picked out of the crowd, God chose me for himself before he made the world, I am marked and sealed with the Holy Spirit, I am in this world but not of it, created to excel to be holy and blameless, God adopted me into his family, he provides and knows just what I need and he has blessed me with every spiritual blessing in Christ, that’s right, my heart has been flooded with light, united with God I am accepted, redeemed, predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, his grace lavished freely upon me, his will revealed to me and through me, redemption through the spilling of his blood, forgiveness of sins because of his love, we who have faithfully put our hope in Christ might bring him praise and glory, as true believers God became the signatory of our salvation, marked with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit remaining within us as a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those in God’s possession, thanksgiving and praise, prayers of adoration, God give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation so I may know you better, open the eyes of my heart Lord to truly appreciate the hope of my calling, the inheritance of Glory, the power that now lives within me, this incomparable power of those who believe, the same power exerted by God when he raised Jesus to his right hand, let me stand empowered with all the power and authority of your heavenly realm, let your name be venerated here on earth as it is in heaven.

Just say No, easier said than done in an age where worldly pleasures are celebrated

Was praying this morning and have been praying for a while about my calling and how God wants to use me and God gave me Titus 2.  I read this through a couple of times and found it a bit odd, like here I am an ex “Gay” woman reading about teaching right and wrong to women and men in their Christian lives, almost felt like giving a lesson in good marriage practices which I am not qualified to do.  However, read again a couple of times and verses 11 – 14 came out at me:

Titus 2 11-14- For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the appearing of the glory of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

So this was more me, I know that God called me out of ungodliness and worldly passions, I know about this and am passionate about my story because I believe it’s a story that can help others come to know God, I believe that the Bible is our guide and our tool for living and want to help others struggling with their lives to see that God loves them regardless, God gave himself to save us and no-one is beyond his help, no-one is exempt, he loves us all, we just need to see that and turn to him for help in changing, he will do the rest.

Just say No, easier said than done in an age where worldly pleasures are celebrated, where some interpret the Bible to suit their current situation not reading into the depths of God’s word, but turning the word to suit their desires, not seeking 100%  to live upright lives or at least lives that would be pleasing to God but twisting his words or shying away from those verses that just may cause concern or make them just that little bit uncomfortable, like verses that cover sexual behaviour, immoral practice and I have lost track of those who say being gay is only wrong in the Old Testament, like HELLO, just say no, I get that it’s hard I live by the sword and every day face battles and temptations but with God on my side he’s given me my redemption, he gives you the power and the strength of mind to continue the fight, he will not give you more than you can handle so step up to the mantle, read the Bible yes both Old and New Testament, your time reading a valuable investment as you wait for the blessed hope, you know the saying give yourself enough rope and you’ll hang yourself, take your bible off the bookshelf, pray to God that you can be true to self, he will show you the way it’s all there in his word, I pray that you will see the light and understand how you can live your life right, it’s not easy and may sound glib when I write just say no, I know, I really know but once I recognised it was the right way to go God showed me how, he paved the way he gave me mentors and friends who stay right by me, help me and guide me and would God lie to me, he seeks the best for me and has made it abundantly clear in his word that I must say no, die to self and rise with Jesus, his promise of eternal life enough for me, his sacrifice a plus for me cos I was dead to all he offered me until I stepped out of the sinful me, gave my heart completely to God above and felt his amazing, unearned love, God came to redeem us from all wickedness, to purify us, are you eager to do what is good, to serve him as you know you should?

God’s life changing promises GUARANTEED

Been reading a series on 1 and 2 Peter and have got so much from this, coupled with reading a book by Janet Boynes who was called out of a homosexual lifestyle many years ago and has a really interesting story (with many parallels to mine).  She is quite strong in her belief that homosexuality is a sin that should be turned from and also that the church needs to take a strong stance on this, too many people sitting on the fence or failing to accept God’s word as definitive on this matter.  Having gone through this myself and having experienced many mixed messages from other Christians I too fall in her camp in terms of let’s get it out there, God loves us all immensely but sin gets between us and God and has to be addressed, no matter what the sin is and the Bible is exceptionally clear on homosexuality being a sin.

Anyway here are some of the verses that have inspired me to write this particular entry:

1 Peter 2:21- It was to this that God called you, for Christ himself suffered for you and left you an example, so that you would follow in his steps.

1Peter 3:9 – Do not pay back evil with evil or cursing with cursing; instead, pay back with a blessing, because a blessing is what God promised to give you when he called you.

1 Peter 2 9 – But you are the chosen race, the King’s priests, the holy nation, God’s own people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into his own marvelous light.

2 Peter 1:3 – God’s divine power has given us everything we need to live a truly religious life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own glory and goodness.

2 Peter 1:4 – in this way he has given us the very great and precious gifts he promised, so that by means of these gifts you may escape from the destructive lust that is in the world, and may come to share the divine nature.

2 Chronicles 7:14- if they pray to me and repent and turn away from the evil they have been doing, then I will hear them in heaven, forgive their sins

Before I called out to God, you know he called out to me, he called for me to be free from the lifestyle I was living, he called out to let me know that he was free to talk, free to discuss the way forward, to share the plans he had for me which revolved around my being free, God’s life changing promises GUARANTEED, a promise that affected me, that changed the way that I would see, the way I lived, the things I did, although I’d hidden from God for so many years, the truth was there were so many fears that consumed me, so many tears that fell, and I was in a living Hell, I was going with the flow but you know what when you go with the flow, the flow can take you where you don’t want to go, and it didn’t matter what I thought, because it didn’t match up to God’s word, it was wrong, truth or lies, lies or truth, when you base faith on your own feelings, ideas and what you think then quite frankly, it stinks, trust in God’s unfailing word, trust in the love of your Lord who called you by name, God called you, suffered for you and left you an example so that you would follow in his steps and he lets us know how we can change, rearrange our lives so that when we pray to God, really pray and say sorry for the evil we have done, God hears our voice, accepts our choice to turn our life around and our sins are gone, how neat, how cool, our sins are gone, for so long I was chained and bound but once God turned my life around the promised blessings started to flow and now I know the direction of the flow, the blessings that overflow into my space, I am now part of a chosen race, a holy nation, God’s own people, and I have been chosen to proclaim God’s might, he called out and pulled me from darkness to light, he has given me such great and precious gifts, and I have been lifted out of the destructive desires of the world in order to share what I have learned, obedience creates the freedom I desire, there is a fire within my heart, people of God do not be led astray for here is what I’m called to say, beware of ravenous wolves in sheep’s clothing, they have nothing to offer but sugar coated messages and God’s message is so clear, steer clear of sin, of immoral behaviour, don’t allow others to taint the message of the Bible, God died to save me from my sinful lifestyle, that doesn’t mean you can go freestyle, picking out the messages that tickle your ears ignoring the rest for fear that you may really need to pick up your cross, you may have to make some modification in relation to how you interpret the Bible, don’t be in denial that God’s divine power gives us everything we need to live a truly righteous life through our knowledge of the one who called us to share in his own glory and goodness, if you want the richness of life eternal however painful it may be I urge you to seek to know God’s word, do not be swayed by false teachers and preachers, reach out to God who is happy to teach us, reach out to God who is waiting to speak to us, forgive us, bless us and love us, reach out to God who tells it straight, reach out to God before it’s too late.
