Maybe Satan suffers from hearing loss

I have news!  God is not to be feared.  God is to be respected and believed and as we start to do that then we start to gain more wisdom and revelation into his desires for our lives. Knowledge of the Holy One can be gained through a closer walk with God and a deeper understanding of his word.  Reading the Bible is so important, and reading it in context so much more important.  Having recently embarked on a reading plan to read the Bible in 90 days starting at Genesis and working through, so much falls into place as you read it in context to other events and happenings recorded previously.

Our relationship with God is personal.  As we seek to know him more he will make clear our paths, he will make clear the ways in which he wants us to walk.  Fear the Lord in the right way, do not be afraid of him he is your friend (he gave his life for you) start a relationship with him, one where you both talk and listen and gradually you will hear his voice and understand what areas he needs you to be obedient in.  Don’t be afraid his plans for you are perfect.

Proverbs 9:10 – The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

God is not to be feared, you may have heard that wrong, you see the devil longs for you to be afraid, he’s played that card a thousand times as he gets right inside your mind and tells you that God is scary, he wants you to think that living for God is like living in a Monastery, no fun, no talking, no joy just chanting but see that’s a fairy tale, the devil wants you to believe that God is an angry God, a God of condemnation when the truth is God is a God of Love and reconciliation, God came to bring peace and joy it’s actually the devil who wants to steal and destroy, the devil tells lies he’s the master of deception so don’t let him tell you that God is angry or that what you have done cannot be forgiven cos Jesus is still living he didn’t stay in that grave, he broke the curse of death and rose again, he took all your sins all your shame, you could say that’s when he won the game, no extra-time, no second chances he changed our circumstances there and then on the cross and maybe Satan suffers from hearing loss and didn’t hear the heavenly hosts celebrating God’s victory over the enemy, God lives in me, soaks me in love, wraps me in certainty, he delivered me from the hands of the enemy, not to be feared but to be revered, not afraid but embraced by the love of a Father, so don’t let the devil bother you anymore, kick him out, show him the door.

Living with a lie left a hole in my life

I am doing a 7 day bible verse challenge, sharing verses that are significant to me.  Been thinking about the 7th one today and this is one of the contenders (and yes I know it is two verses!)

Matthew 7:13-14 – Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Not maybe the most uplifting verse in many ways but one which speaks volumes to me.  I think picking up your cross and following Jesus is the most amazing thing you can do in your life but it doesn’t come without trials and troubles.  I feel like the closer I get to God and the more I want to do for him the harder the enemy fights to drag me down.  It’s not an easy path and there are so many unanswered questions.  Today our Minister was preaching on wisdom and that’s what I need more than anything right now.

However I’ve got news for the enemy, I’m taken, I’m protected and I’m loved by a God who died for me, doesn’t get much better than that.

I’m taken, I’m not free to mess around with you no more, you know the score, you may have had your claws in me once before but no more, I have seen the light and felt the might of an amazing God, he loves me, protects me, his son died for me, you see all the time I was in your pocket I never got it but now I see the truth and the truth has set me free, and maybe it was easier to live with the lie because you would let sleeping dogs lie but living with a lie left a hole in my life, a hole that only God could fill with truth and love and light and now you are putting up a fight because you see that light shining from me, you see the person that I’m going to be, you see the power God’s put in me and you don’t like the things you see, well I’ve got news for you, there’s nothing you can do, no mountain high enough, no river wide enough, no valley deep enough to keep me from God, he’s all I need and now I am free so I don’t need the things you offer, you are no longer the author of my destiny, no longer in control, no addiction, no affliction, no blame, no shame, I am not the same but that’s a good thing, I am changing, transforming, claiming the promises of my Saviour and believe me when I say I will never waiver.

Our life on earth transitory

Yesterday was a struggle but handing stuff to God is the only way to cope when the enemy tempts us to despair.  Tempting may not be in the form of trying to get us to sin it may be taunting us about our choices trying to make us uncertain or unclear about our walk with God. That’s certainly what was happening to me but this verse is so important to me:

Romans 8:38-39 – For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So talking to God and listening for his words was the way forward and today I feel things are resolved and I am much calmer and closer to God

God has overcome the world, be of good cheer, OK there may be trouble ahead but God has already told you he’s been there before you, and on top of that he put in you a spirit of power and love so isn’t that enough for you, God is with you, in you, greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world, basically you have God and he is with you, the enemy will try and reach in and upset the equilibrium, but stay strong, nothing can separate you from God’s love, remember when things seem rough, neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate you from the love of God how amazing to read in God’s word that he never leaves us or forsakes us and I for one give thanks in all circumstances for the love I have received since the day I first believed, I fix my eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, you see what is seen is temporary, our life on earth transitory but what is unseen is eternal, this life is not a rehearsal this is it, our chance to be a part of God’s Kingdom on earth to claim the second birth that leads us to his heavenly kingdom, may that kingdom come soon and God’s will be done and then we can praise our Saviour all the day long.

You see me tossing on the waves, saved but storm tossed

What a struggle the last few days has been, a battle of the mind, a battle of the enemy trying to get to me. I can recognise when I am under attack now which is a real step forward from the past, but it’s tough when the enemy tries so many ways to trick and deceive us.  I kind of recognise that there is a degree of testing going on too:  James 1: 12 – Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial

I rejoice that one day I will understand everything, I will see and understand God’s plans and his ways, but in the meantime I am going to praise God that he does have a plan for me and he is preparing me for that plan.  Let’s face it that’s clearly why the enemy is attacking me, he’s worried about my future because he knows I am going to be a danger to him and all I can say is AMEN to that.

1 Corinthians 13:12 – For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

Isaiah 54: 11 – 12 – O afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted behold, I will set your stones in antimony and your foundations I will lay in sapphires. “Moreover, I will make your battlements of rubies and your gates of crystal and your entire wall of precious stones.

James 1:5-6 – If any of you lacks wisdom you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given you, but when you ask you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind

What I see now is merely a reflection of what I will see when I finally meet you Lord, the love I feel now a mere taste of your love reserved for me when I see you face to face, what I know now cannot compete with what I will know then as my knowledge right now is only partial, yet you know me fully oh Lord, you know my every thought, you see my every movement, you hear my every cry, you hear my whys you see me tossing on the waves, saved but storm tossed, struggling to find comfort, my thoughts drown out the sound of your whispered love and I must refocus on Jesus, ask God for his word, believe and not doubt, I sing and shout in worship and praise, raise the volume higher as I defy the enemy, not going to let him get to me, his lies will wash over me, the blood of Jesus protects me, and see as I focus and listen closely I once again tune into God’s voice and I can rejoice that he never fails me and continues to build me.

May love overpower the enemy’s firepower

The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it, the world and all who live in it….

What amazing words to wake up to as I read the first post on a day of Prayer for the future of Britain.  The earth does belong to God our creator, our world is in his hands and we as inhabitants are his children, how much more should we seek his will as our country struggles in the wake of the immense Referendum decision?  And it feels good to put this into God’s hands, to know that many others around the country are praying too for God’s will to be done, it feels like we have a hope

John 16:24 – Until now you have asked nothing in my name, ask and you will receive so that your joy will be made full

Yes Lord we are asking for your love to flood this country, for reconciliation, for unity and for a clear forward path, for strong leaders who will abide in your love and truth, for compassion, for hope.

Hey God, thanks for listening to our pleas, thanks for seeing that we care and we want to share your love throughout our nation, we want to spread the elation of knowing the one true God, it’s hard to see this fear and worry, neighbour falling out with neighbour, families divided, friends undecided, yet you have provided us with the answer, bring everything to God in prayer, share this with your friends and neighbours, praying is the way to save us from uncertainty, personally; corporately; wherever two or three are in agreement your will be done, may the hurts and anger of the past be undone, may love overpower the enemy’s firepower, sourness and bitterness reversed through the witness of your church, our love a brightly shining torch lighting up our nation’s path, may we at last return to our Christian roots, the fruits of the Spirit a foundation on which to build greatness, take away the hatred and insults the result of ignorance and fear, wipe away all tears and let us build here a nation of God, holy and true, God we’ve come to you praying for breakthrough.

Another problem, REJOICE! Another issue, lift your VOICE in praise

We can use difficulties in life to become stronger.  We can use our experiences both past and present to learn and to develop the fruits of the Spirit.  At the time it may not feel good and we may not feel in control, but trust God he is in control and he is using every situation to help shape and mold us into who we are destined to be in him.  We were talking last night at our group about “pressures” and how the enemy uses them to muddy the water, to steal our time and our focus.  Yet I am now learning that handing my pressures to God and asking for him to take them from me does result in a stronger relationship with him and more time to spend with him.  A win/win situation less pressure equals more time with God equals even less pressures as we talk and discuss them with him and ultimately leave them with him.

Romans 5:3-4 – We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady.

Psalm 29:11 – The Lord gives strength to his people and blesses them with peace

Another problem, REJOICE!  Another issue, I lift my VOICE in praise, too many days wasted mourning when we know your mercies are new every morning, I am not falling into the trap that the enemy sets, let’s get this straight, God is with me, period.  God loves me and in my experience that means he takes the pressure and replaces it with something better, God created me for greatness he died so I would be blameless, he rose so I could be shameless, he lives so that I can live in outrageous grace, I face the world with strength knowing there are no lengths my God will not go to overthrow the enemy’s grip on me, to keep me free of his lies and deceit, he holds me so close I can feel his heartbeat, I am seated with God and however hard things seem I hold on to the knowledge that I am redeemed, loved, adopted, God opted to have me in his Kingdom so I see my pressures purely as a symptom of an enemy who’s intent on destroying me, yet can never break God’s grip on me for I am loved and I am free destined for eternity with my Saviour who died for me.

The devil is not afraid of your empty words

I have found it quite surprising in my walk that there are many Christians who don’t know God’s word in any depth and who rarely pick up their Bibles to even seek God’s word.  In my particular case I suppose I have come across this most in the context of what the word has to say about homosexuality but really we need to be absorbed in God’s word to distinguish good and sound teaching and doctrine from poor and false teaching and doctrine in all areas of our lives and our walk with God.  God is a great and loving Father, he even left us “a manual”, the Bible so we should use it daily to grow in our walk, our understanding and ultimately our witness.

  • Hebrews 5:11-14 – Warning against falling away – We have much to say about this, but it is hard to make it clear to you because you no longer try to understand. In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

So here’s the thing we need to constantly feed on the word, reading our bibles and practice what it says in order to grow into mature Christians who are able to clearly distinguish between sound and unsound doctrine

  • Deuteronomy 11:18 – Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.

The devil is not afraid of your empty words, he does not tremble when he sees you coming empty handed, empty headed, no word of God to pull upon for any situation, the enemy knows God’s word can hurt him, God’s word is a powerful weapon, our sword of the spirit so now’s the time to get with it, absorb yourself in it, fix God’s words on your heart and mind, tie his words as symbols on your hands, bind them on your foreheads, let it never be said that the enemy got the better of you in any situation because of your lack of dedication to learning from God, his word was written for you, for your instruction, for encouragement and endurance, it’s your frame of reference for your Christian walk, and if it’s not clear to you from the Bible, just ask God, he will not rebuke you for asking, his word is alive and powerful, a weapon of mass destruction that Satan wants us to ignore, don’t give him that satisfaction anymore, soak up God’s word, immerse yourself in his teachings, God is reaching out, he gives you all the tools, the armour of God and it’s not so hard for us to spend time learning from the Master, pick up your Bible, enjoy God’s word and you’ll receive all the answers you require to finally set your faith on fire.
