Your condition is not terminal

God fills my heart with joy, if you are not a Christian you probably don’t understand that but it’s so true.  All our lives we spend seeking joy and happiness but it won’t come, you will never be satisfied until God is in your life.  You may find temporary happiness but until you find God it will be just that, temporary.

  • Psalm 90:14 – Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
  • Psalm 23:3 – He restores my soul
  • Psalm 94:19 – When anxiety was great within me your consolation brought me joy.
  • Psalm 62:5 – Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him


I can’t explain God’s love but you can experience it for yourself, I can’t give you my faith but you can have your own, I can’t give you peace but I know a  man who can,  I can show you the way, point you in the right direction but you have to make that decision, until you do one thing’s for certain, that God shaped hole in your heart ain’t gonna get filled with sex or drugs or alcohol, it’s not gonna get filled with money or fame, there’s only one way to fill that void, one way to destroy the pain, ask God to take it away, ask God into your heart to fill that part of you that is missing, your condition is not terminal, see God’s love for you is personal his power to change you is unimaginable and OK so it may not be fashionable to wear a label, but being God’s child isn’t that desirable?  God is more than able to fix you, he’s waiting to meet you as you finally acknowledge you really do need him, he’s waiting to show you his eternal Kingdom, to give you peace here on earth, another opportunity a new second birth.

Victory, a life free of worry, fear and anxiety.

Another great meeting last night and this time we concentrated on fervent prayer against our fears.  Now many of us to start with could not identify “major” fears in our lives but as we discussed further it did come to light that yes, there are times when all of us feel fear, apprehension or anxiety.  We were saying how many times the Bible refers to “do not be afraid”, or “do not be anxious” and how great it is to be able to call on God in our “fears” and to feel his presence when he stands alongside us in these difficult situations. So here are just 10 verses I’m going to use:

  1. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
  2. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3
  3. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
  4. “Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14:27
  5. “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
  6. “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18
  7. “When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” Psalm 94:19
  8. “But now, this is what the Lord says…Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1
  9. “An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.” Proverbs 12:25
  10. “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4


No matter what, even if I’m walking in the shadow of death, I will not be afraid cos I have made my home with the Lord, I carry his sword and wield it artfully, personally I have a certainty that Jesus lives in me, so why be down, fearful and tearful when my time can be spent in cheerful praise and worship, membership of God’s mighty army means nothing can harm me, nothing can separate me from Jesus, I trust him completely, I love him so deeply and he loves me, his perfect love casts out all fear, what can compare with the love of my Father who wants me to prosper, with him I’m strong as I travel along life’s journey, protected, defended by the Lord who knows me, summoned by name I claim the victory, a life free of worry, fear and anxiety.

Love, powerful weapon of peace

Heart breaking are the only words to describe the news of the senseless deaths in Orlando how my heart broke when I heard that news, for the tragic loss of life and the sense of hatred towards a community who are loved so much by God. God came to save the oppressed, to meet with the broken, to heal hearts and minds, to reach out to those that society push to one side, how his heart must break right now.  I pray we can pull together to support those who are affected by this, our love and acceptance is all we may have but it is essential in showing the LGBT community that God loves all of us, we can never make people feel that God doesn’t care for them, he cares more for each of us than most of us ever realise in a lifetime and as a God of love he wants us to reach out and support all those affected, let’s let his love shine through our response.

  • 1 John 2:9 – Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.
  • Matthew 7:1 – Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
  • John 10:10 –  The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full


Love, powerful weapon of peace, arm yourselves brothers and sisters as times of terror increase as hatred figures more in a society which mirrors our fallen humanity, tragedy after tragedy in the name of freedom, hatred not the answer, judgement not ours to make, take our thoughts Lord, take our prayers, layer upon layer of questions trying to understand this obsession with death and destruction, Lord provide protection from the work of the evil one intent on carnage and ruin, move in our nations, Holy Spirit fill us, God surround us, protect us from evil, from the thief who comes to steal, kill, destroy, may you alone be our joy, our obsession, may all men see that you alone are the answer, remove their anger, give them a hunger for true freedom and a thirst for your Kingdom.

Spirit of God a gift for me, another benefit of being free

Trinity Sunday and we were talking about the amazing gift of the Holy Spirit and I had not thought of the Holy Spirit in that light before – a “Gift” freely given by our heavenly Father.  So not only do we get access to God and Jesus we also have this amazing person living in us, to help us in every situation, draw us closer to God, help us in our daily walk, it truly is an amazing gift and isn’t God amazing, he knew we couldn’t do it on our own so when Jesus ascended into Heaven he had to give us something to help us through PRICELESS.

Acts 2:38 – Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 8:26 – In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

Holy Spirit

I am Spirit filled, I have part of the Holy Trinity in me, access to my Father in heaven 24/7, no messing, the Holy Spirit lives in me, he came to me when I became a Christian when I turned to God and said sorry for my sins, when I was baptised he opened my eyes to the most incredible gift, and that’s what he is, Spirit of God a gift for me, another benefit of being free, and he doesn’t push me to do things I don’t want to do, he waits patiently to be desired, waits for me to recognise the power within me, brings gifts that are free like love, joy and peace, an amazing peace that surpasses all understanding, he fires me up to serve the Lord, prompts me to turn to God about others, conversely prompts me to talk to others about God, and although it sounds hard with the Spirit it’s easy, he gives me the words, gives me the courage, and I flourish because he lives in me, closer than you will ever get, he’s my safety net, my guide, my counsel, never doubtful he guides me to the truth, soothes me, smooths the path for me and understands my needs, Spirit of God walk with me, remain with me, live in me.

He rescues me from powerful enemies

Was reading Psalm 18 today, what an amazing Psalm so full of promise, so full of the power and greatness of God.  Got me to thinking of what God did and continues to do for me…

Psalm 18 – I love you, Lord, my strength, the Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.


OK so I was in a bad place, my head space was wrecked and I was so far from God that it was hard to see how he was ever gonna connect with me, the cords of death entangled me, like what does that mean, well I was going down, you know like I was not feeling the love, I had had enough of all the trash surrounding me, never feeling secure or happy, like the happiness I had was empty, no depth, no meaning just me leaning on a feeling that kind of masked the pain, the guilt, the shame, and I knew  his name, I knew he was there I just didn’t grasp that he cared for me even in my state of sin, I didn’t think that I was worth it yet when I was distressed, in a mess all I had to do was call to God for help cos he’s in his temple waiting to hear from me, he is ready day or night to reach out and take me right out of the situation I find myself in, no matter how deep the water how torrid the storm how far I had walked away from him, he’s in it with me, he rescues me from powerful enemies, and OK so that means anything out to destroy me, behaviours and actions, all my addictions, my love of things not holy, my inability to see that God loved me, and these things were too strong for me until God helped me see that he delights in me and he would rescue me because of the thoughts he had for me, he wanted me to prosper, to look after me, he brought me into a place where I could be safe, I could learn to be happy, believe in me, believe that I am worthy, loveable and that I can be of some use to him, to know that he’s wiped out my sin and now I live for him, his way is perfect, like spot on, his word is without blemish and he always finishes what he starts, he keeps my path clear, he lifts me nearer to him every day, he’s showing me ways to fight the battles, he rattles my enemies and protects me from evil, he lives, Jesus lives and lives in me, praise him he has filled me with an amazing joy, my heart beats faster when I think of the Father who gave his son so I could be free, who gave a perfect and faultless son to die on a cross because of me, because he loved me so dearly he couldn’t bear to see me condemned to an eternity of death and destruction, his only instruction, love me with all your heart mind and soul, turn away from the sin that’s controlling your life, embrace the sacrificial lamb, stand firm and God confirms that he is my rock, my salvation, my shield and stronghold, that means he’s holding me in his arms, keeping me safe from any and everything that can harm me, alarm me or hold me down, he allows me to be free, he gives me joy and strength and more than that he gives me peace.

His love for you isn’t optional

Suppose as we get closer to Christmas it’s inevitable that we will reflect more on the “story” and today I was looking at Isaiah and thinking about what his words really mean for me, and also just thought how awesome that this Prophet foretold so accurately of Jesus birth

Isaiah 7:14 – Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6 – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the LORD Almighty will accomplish this


The perfect gift from our loving father, not a baby born to be king, but a king born as a baby already set to change the course of history, his story written by his Loving Father, his role, to die on a cross, not just to die but he would be crucified his perfect life sacrificed for me.  Yes, simply stated it’s not complicated, he was born in a stable, grew up as a child of Mary and Joseph yet inherently knew that he had another Father who he would rather spend time with, he yearned to learn all that he could, read the scriptures, hung out at the temple, spent plenty of time in communication with his Father God our heavenly creator, he talked to the people, chose his disciples, these were people who he would lay down his life for, he treasured them, taught them, took them under his wing so when his time here on earth was over they would take over and share the good news, just as the prophets had done in the past the good news of God’s love would last through generation to generation, and as it was stated by Isaiah hundreds of years in the past a child was born, a son was given and now he is risen.  Not any child, not any son, the son of God, wonderful counsellor, and so we should be in awe, wonderful, his acts of love incomprehensible, incredible, beyond human understanding and he is a counsellor, a wise King wonderful in counsel and excellent in wisdom, so we can trust him to listen to our problems, he guides us in the right direction, wonderful counsellor, love in perfection and all this affection coming from a Mighty God, all powerful, a force to be reckoned with, our everlasting Father, his love is limitless, endless, his parenthood perfect and he is the Prince of Peace, his sacrifice permitting us to have a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit who fills our lives with love, joy and peace, an inner tranquillity living in me, a peace that surpasses all understanding, is non demanding and yet commanding, not the absence of troubles but the presence of God the author of my peace, and so you have it,  the virgin Mary conceived, gave birth to a son who will be the Saviour of all humanity, Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace, Emmanuel, God is with me and I am going to be with him for all eternity because he gladly gave up his heavenly throne to make himself known, to become accessible and so that we could see that with God all things are possible, his love for you isn’t optional, receiving his love, well that’s your choice, his gift given freely cos he really wants you to have the best, his counsel, his might, his peace and his parenthood all earnt for you on that Cross of wood.

Be jubilant and exult his name!

A friend sent me a message this morning with a reference to Philippians 4 and I have taken this and reworked it in my own style.  Loved this word from God and such a positive way to start the weekend – Rejoice in the Lord always!

Philippians 4: 4-9 

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.


Rejoice in the Lord always, be jubilant and exult his name, it’s worth saying again Rejoice with heart and soul and voice, allow your whole being to rejoice and may your gentleness be apparent, your disposition mild and humble, may you no longer stumble nor be anxious in any situation because the Lord is near and hears your prayers, he hears your praise as you raise up your voice in thanksgiving, he is a giving, loving God, he gives us peace, a peace that we can never understand, never comprehend, he guards our hearts and our minds and we can find serenity when we offer up our hearts to our heavenly Father and what’s more you need to remember to keep your mind on that which is holy, for whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever inspires admiration or approval, whatever is excellent, one hundred percent worthy of praise put into practice all of your days, whether learned behaviour or a gift from our Saviour, embrace it and be active in keeping your mind on positive things, allowing your heart to sing and your mind to flow with the peace of our God who loves us so.
