I am a bundle of potential, my ability unrealised

I was thinking today about our potential.  What got me started on that was reading about Saul’s jealousy of David.  Sometimes we compare ourselves to others and we can feel jealousy if we don’t feel we are as good as them or if we feel their gifts are more honed than ours.  But then I thought, maybe I’m not supposed to have the same gifts, I have other gifts and tons of potential.  I have God living in me.  Now, if that doesn’t speak of potential, nothing does!  So, I need to unlock the treasure I have, not try and gain gifts that are not mine but pray for God to use the gifts I have been blessed with.  I have so much to give to light up my own little corner of this vast world, that’s what I need to work on.

Genesis 11:6 – And the Lord said, “Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language, and this is only the beginning of what they will do. And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,

I am a bundle of potential, my ability unrealised, my treasure hidden in clay jars, I possess an earth shattering dynamism, I am a force to be reckoned with, I have no limits, except my belief, if I fail to believe I will fail to leave my mark on society, if I fail to trust God I’m going to fall hard, If I’m a slave to comparison I have no reason to call myself Christian, if I fail to listen to what God calls me I’ve lost my identity, chosen, loved, cherished, redeemed it’s more than I dreamed it could be, forgiven, citizen of heaven, confident and kept from falling, that is my calling, sanctified, no longer ashamed, called child of God, beloved and safe, no condemnation, a new creation, l am what I am by his Grace alone, I’m helped in my weakness, rescued from the darkness, buried with Christ and raised up with him too, more than a conqueror through him who loves me, predestined to be part of his family, born of the Spirit, reborn and baptised, alive in him, the apple of his eye, I am that bundle of potential and I will be influential, I am a miracle, an individual created by God, integral to his plans for his Kingdom, I will shine in the places I inhabit, in this my corner of the planet I plan to use the gifts he’s given, to share his love, his peace and his vision.

I offer my devotion to my Abba, Father

God came so that we may have freedom.  More and more as I walk this walk I see how Satan targets our minds and seeks to steal some of that freedom from us.  He got to me this week but not for long!  As soon as I immerse myself back in prayer and God’s word I am able to use this double-edged sword to cut Satan down to size and I encourage you to do the same.  Satan is a liar, a deceiver and he targets the vulnerable areas of your mind.  When he does this just take a look at Romans 8, we are sons and daughters of God and NOTHING can separate us from God’s love.

Romans 8: 14-17 – For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”  The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Romans 8:37-39 – in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It’s only in surrender that I’m free, loved forever, that’s me, and I will walk in freedom, devoted to your will, for there is nothing I want outside the will of God and in the will of God there is nothing I fear, I surrendered my heart to you and in return you have protected it with a love that calms all fears, you are so near to me I can reach out and touch you, so close I can feel your heartbeat, it’s so neat that with you on my side I am more than a conqueror, because you loved us first we are free to love unconditionally, nothing in all creation can separate us from your love, nothing on the earth or in heaven above can keep us apart, I am a child of God, led by the Spirit who has broken the chains of slavery, yes I am free, no longer in fear, no longer living near the edge, I am Christ centred having entered into adoption, heir to God himself, a co-heir with Jesus, now that’s got to be a plus, I am a new creation and yes I am full of elation, I offer my devotion to my Abba, Father, I share in his sufferings and I share in his glory, I happily tell others my story, freed from a shameful past, at last happy to speak of what was, what is and what is to come, cos it all speaks of God’s glorious Kingdom, my adoption into his family, the love that he gave that set me free.

Delight at the storms for with storms come his solutions

I was reading Isaiah 61 today in the context of how God wants us to live a “Kingdom” lifestyle.  One verse that I hadn’t considered in much detail before was verse 5.

Strangers will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards

When looking at the Matthew Henry commentary on this he sheds more light on what this means for us.

“When, by the grace of God, we attain to holy indifference as to the affairs of this world; when, though our hands are employed about them, our hearts are not entangled with them, but preserved entire for God and his service, then the sons of the alien are our ploughmen and vine-dressers. Those whom He sets at liberty, he sets to work. His service is perfect freedom; it is the greatest honour”

Put quite simply when we dedicate our lives to God, when we set out to do his work, he provides for us, he gives us perfect freedom.  We don’t need to sweat the small stuff or the large stuff, God will make a way, God will make it happen.  Awesome!

Perfect freedom, perfection, God has it all planned out, nothing left to chance, he wants us to dance in the rain, delight at the storms for with storms come his solutions, perfect solutions that throw the devil into confusion, when he thinks we should be sinking but instead we are walking on water, he forgets, we are daughters and sons of the most high God, he tries so hard to bring us down, but we will not breakdown, we will breakthrough, breakthrough every barrier claiming ground, turning our lives around, touching the lives of those we meet, our feet running now we’ve gained momentum, we are relentless in our pursuit of holy perfection.

Trust God that when I open my mouth he speaks

So have been reading this amazing book by Robby Dawkins – “Do what Jesus did” and have come away inspired to take more “risks” for Jesus.  You know I just have to ask myself what’s the worst thing that can happen if I offer to pray for someone??  What’s the worst thing that can happen if I tell someone about my testimony, my faith or my God?

We are so blessed and we have amazing news to share, Jesus has taken away our sins, we no longer need to live lives of hurt, shame, or regret, “it is finished”.

Hebrews 9: 27-28 – People have to die once. After that, God will judge them.  In the same way, Christ was offered up once. He took away the sins of many people. He will also come a second time. At that time he will not suffer for sin. Instead, he will come to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Once and for all it was finished, his dying breath brought life, and I want to see a generation waking up, getting close up and personal with the Lord, fighting for freedom and justice, looking after the world which God entrusted to us, I am fearfully and wonderfully made, not made fearful and wondering, so why am I squandering chances that God gives me to make advances for his Kingdom, we die only once to face our judgement and I want to stand there having played my part, imparted God’s gifts to those who I meet, I am not defeated I am ready to take a risk, to stand out in the crowd, to bring healing to the broken, good news to the lost, no matter the cost, I remember that I was lost but God found me, used others to gently help me see that God is love and God gives freedom, he wants to share his Kingdom with all humanity if only I would seize each and every opportunity God gives to me how many more would come to see that Jesus really died to set them free?  When Jesus died my life began and I can feel the power within me, I need to harness the power allow it freedom, trust in my God in every season to deliver true healing to all who I meet, trust him that when I open my mouth he speaks, his words flow so that others will know he wants to meet with them too, he wants a relationship to get up close and personal, his promises irreversible he is merciful, his love is terminal and it’s remarkable that I am an original sinner but in God’s eyes he only sees winner, so here I am sinner turned winner ready to serve the Lord with all my heart mind and soul, ready to put myself out there and let God take control.

I sit in your throne room praying from a place of victory

Wow powerful meeting last night with some massive insights into prayer and how much power we can build into prayer and how close we can come to God in prayer and it’s not about how anyone else prays it’s about you and God.  Prayer is where heaven meets earth – WOW that is powerful.  So really helped me see how I can change my prayer life and claim God’s power and promises over stuff in a much more effective, strategic and victorious way.

Matthew 28:18-19 – And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore….”

John 20:21 – So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

Ephesians 2: 5-6 – even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus

Prayer, where heaven meets earth, I sit in your throne room praying from a place of victory, it is finished, it was finished when you bowed your head on that Cross and took the punishment for us, it is finished and now I pray in security and joy, direct line to God above the enemy, I trample on his head he is defeated your Kingdom authority given to me, your will be done on earth, we are the enforcers of your victory, the watchmen taking on this divine assignment, never silent, never ceasing to pray day and night, what a privilege and our right to carry everything to God in prayer, releasing his glory on the earth, Heaven on earth, your Kingdom come, your will be done, praise to our Mighty Father prayer and praise, praise the place of God’s residence, Holy Spirit within us paving the way to his presence, I wield my sword in spiritual warfare knowing that God is there to show me great and mighty things that I have not yet seen, ready to lead us into battle for the battle is his and the victory secured, I look for the big picture, praying to a God who will do immeasurably more than all I ask or imagine, a prayer warrior, powerful soldier of God, I go to the Sanctuary of God, I take his word, interceding and praying his will be done on earth, no longer mine to pray from earth to heaven but in victory my prayers from heaven to earth, I am risen with my Lord, seated with him in victory over the enemy, I am blessed with Kingdom authority.

I should be using my unique history to tell your story

I guess an amazing thing to realise is that we all have a vital part to play in God’s Kingdom, our part is unique to us and prepared especially for us to fulfil. How easy it is to think that I am such a small insignificant part of all this when the reality is we are all important and precious in God’s eyes.

1 Corinthians 12:21-27

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’ 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honourable we treat with special honour. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honour to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

Playing my part, often it’s easy to start questioning my role, how easy to think that I am so small and insignificant a part of your Kingdom, when you gave me freedom to think positively and I probably don’t think it through, that you chose me, you chose to invite me to get involved, you absolved me from my sin so I could begin to play my part, I could start to make a mark using my unique history to tell your story, to give God the glory, and whatever it is that I can bring, no offering too small, too trivial, too simple to be used for your purpose, I am not worthless, oh no, I am a strong warrior, a soldier for God and I will take your word and believe that I am worthy to serve, hold my nerve in every situation for you are the foundation of my witness, gone is all bitterness and meekness, gone all weakness replaced by completeness, completeness in you Jesus, you have freed us and we will follow where you lead us, take up our cross and follow you, understand the work you plan us to do, recognise the gifts that you have given us and use them in a glorious way to give you the glory every day, to you be the glory, to you give praise, may we never cease to be amazed at your plans for our lives, for through you we can revive and bless this nation, bring so many others to salvation if we just play the part you’ve given on our earthly path to heaven.
