My mouth like a sharpened sword ready at all times to quote from his word

Never think you are not good enough, never feel like you are not in the right place, doing God’s work.  Listen to this amazing word – before I was born the Lord called me.  WOW how can we ever be anything but awestruck by that.  How blessed to be anointed and chosen by God.

Isaiah 49: 1- 3 Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: Before I was born the Lord called me; from my mother’s womb he has spoken my name. He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver. He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendour.”

Before I was born the Lord called for me, think about that in all its simplicity, God called for me, he saw me in my Mother’s womb and even then he knew me, he knew the plans he had for me, to prosper me, protect me from harm, his arms already reaching out to enfold me as I was born into the reality of a fallen world where for a time I would not know the depth of love he had for me, chosen by God it was only a matter of time before I admitted my crime of turning my back on my wonderful Saviour, until I confessed all my behaviour that was sinful, until I knelt in obedience before my God and asked for his forgiveness, and how he has blessed me making my mouth like a sharpened sword ready at all times to quote from his word, he hid me in his shadow when life’s path got quite narrow and he carried me when it got so hard that I needed him to support my scarred and weary body, God almighty caring for me until I was ready to be released as a polished arrow to penetrate at the heart of need, concealed in his quiver until like a river of living water he released me to display his glory and splendour, he used me, a sinful offender because God no longer sees the sinful parts once we give him our hearts, he doesn’t see what we were but what we can be, he sees our potential to be successful fishers of men, he loves us unconditionally, can I hear an AMEN?

He forgave me my trespasses back at the Cross

I was meditating on God’s word today and I just felt God saying that I am Anointed, Blessed, Loved and Elevated.  God’s words to me today. WOW, I am ABLE.

This immediately reminded me of the verse:

Philippians 4:3 – “I am able to do all things through God who strengthens me”.

It also made me think about other Bible verses that talk about our “ability” to do things:

  • 1 Corinthians 10:13 – God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able
  • John 9:15 – So the Pharisees asked him again how he had gained his sight. He replied, “He put mud on my eyes and I washed, and now I am able to see.”
  • Acts 26:22 – But I obtained help from God and so I am able to stand here to this day, testifying to both the common people and to those in prominence.
  • Romans 1:15 – For which reason I have the desire, as far as I am able, to give the knowledge of the good news to you
  • 1 Corinthians 14:18 – I give praise to God that I am able to make use of tongues
  • 2 Corinthians 1:4 – who comforts me in all my distress, so that I am able to comfort people who are in any distress by the comfort with which I myself am comforted by God.

Fearfully and wonderfully made, anointed with oil my cup overflows, the Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, anointed and blessed, no long oppressed but blessed by a God who delights in me outrageously, loving me despite my blemishes, he forgave me my trespasses back at the Cross, he let me off, my sins forgiven and my freedom obtained, no shame, no blame and when I gave my life to be one of his anointed children he elevated me into heavenly Kingdoms, my thoughts no longer of this world, for I am a citizen of heaven in my temporary home, anointed to make known God’s love to all around me, to use the gifts he’s given me to lift others from obscurity and let God set them free, I am able to do all God asks of me exactly because he chose me, my path defined, my blind eyes made to see, my heart filled with desire to pass on what he has done, my joy to praise my Jesus, Son of God with tongues,  my mouth is filled with praise, his love spills over into me, my role to be all he asks me to be, to speak in truth, to speak in love, to bring God’s word down from above, to walk in faith, to walk in love, anointed, blessed, loved and elevated, forever I will shout of his greatness.

Blessed be my praise as it pours from my heart

At my ladies group last night we were looking at adopting a Kingdom Lifestyle and what we could do differently over the next 30 days to meet with God.  One of the options I chose (which was probably not the most challenging as I write regularly) was to write a praise prayer and use it daily to springboard my prayer time.  I will be doing some different challenges that stretch me more but this one was one I really felt was right for me.

  • Psalm 34:2 – “With all my heart, I will praise the LORD. Let all who are helpless, listen and be glad.”
  • 1 Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light
  • Psalm 69:30 – “I will praise the LORD God with a song and a thankful heart.”
  • Psalm 71:23 – You have rescued me! I will celebrate and shout, singing praises to you with all my heart.”
  • Psalm 148:1-4 – “Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights. Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts. Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light. Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.”
  • Psalm 149:6 – “Let the high praises of God be in their mouth and a two-edged sword in their hand”
  • Hebrews 13:15 – “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”
  • Psalm 103:1-2 – “Let all that I am praise the LORD; with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name. Let all that I am praise the LORD; may I never forget the good things he does for me.”
  • Psalm 113:1-4 – “Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD. Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised. The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.”

Praise you God, praise your name, blessed be your name, blessed be my praise as it pours from my heart, chosen, royal, holy, a special possession, let my expression of praise be acceptable, may nothing be conventional about my praise and worship to you God who purchased my sins and rescued me, I celebrate, I shout aloud, singing praises through the storm clouds and through the sunshine, cos I am yours and you are mine, may you be praised in the heavens, praised in the heights, everlasting light, may my praise be right and good, let your praise be continually in my mouth, a double edged sword in my hand, may I stand before your throne and make known my thanks and praise all of my days, may I never forget your mercy, all the things you’ve done for me for it is right to give my thanks and praise, blessed be your name from this time forth and for evermore, from the rising of the sun to the going down of the same your name oh Lord is to be praised, high above all nations, your glory shines above the heavens, praise him you sun and moon, praise him stars of light, praise him all creatures great and small, praise him with all my heart, may others listen and be glad, may their hearts soar to hear the praise and hear my roar of approval as I bring my grateful heart to my loving God, remembering all that you have done for me, celebrating all your love for me, rejoicing in your presence continually.

May you be so blessed you can’t contain it

My daily reading “respond” challenged us to write a short blessing for someone.  Always up for a challenge I have written the following based on these verses

  • Luke 1:45 – Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her!’
  • Exodus 14:14 – The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still
  • Psalm 23:5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
  • Isaiah 45:8 – You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord, have created it.
  • Psalm 37:4 – Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

May your cup overflow with blessings, may you be so blessed you can’t contain it, may you never forget God’s timing is perfect, he never fails you nor forsakes you, as your prayers go up, may blessings fall down, may they be as countless as the grains of sand and as the Lord commands his angels to look after you may you feel peace, as you count your blessings as you name them one by one may you never cease to be overwhelmed at all that God has done, may salvation spring up within your family, may the Lord prepare your table, anoint you freely, may your cup completely overflow with blessings and I’m guessing what I’m really saying is may God’s face shine upon you today, be blessed my friends in every way.

God we are blessed and favoured that we have a God who never gave up on us

I was really honoured to be able to give the prayer of praise and thanksgiving in church this morning and did this in my own style!  Really enjoyed writing this one as it was a chance to give God the glory and thank him for how amazing he is.

Praise God

Praise God from whom all blessings flow, praise him, let our praises show, cos let’s face it we already know what a wondrous God we serve, God you are awesome, formidable, heart stirring, life changing from the moment you first came into our lives, you provide breath taking love, ferocious protection, mind blowing forgiveness, God may your name be exalted, you cannot be faulted, you never alter, how cool is that, you never change

You remain constant, steadfast, dependable, your love for us is durable so let me spell this out in words of one syllable, our God is love, and that knowledge is enough for us, we are loved and we are free and we see that you chose each of us individually and for that we give thanksgiving and praise, we extol your name, God we are blessed and we are favoured that we have a God who never gave up on us a God who cannot be exaggerated cos you are the greatest, King of Kings, Ruler of all the nations, of whom or what shall we fear or dread, and God if you are for us who can be against us, we rejoice that one day at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, every tongue confess you King of Glory,

Thank you that your blessings are upon us and I punctuate that thanks with Hallelujahs, praise to the Lord, praise to the King, we are transformed by your splendour and we shall enter your gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and we shall enter your courts with praise, raising our arms up high to the Lord who hears our cry, you alone are worthy of our praise and all our days belong to you Jesus.

Whatever our history, whatever battle we are fighting, you are there, lighting our walk, waiting to listen when we’re ready to talk, you love us, you ache for us to see that your love is real, it never stops, never fails, check out his hands for the marks of the nails, that’s what we mean to Jesus

May our hearts never stay silent, Father brighten our day as we sing praises to you our God and our King and OK so there’s just one more thing. Thank you for answered prayer, thank you that when we pray, you listen, you give us your undivided attention proving yet again that our God is great, compassionate and able, capable of miraculous healing and merciful feelings, through your great power you shower us with blessings, messing with human understanding, commanding that your will be done, proving your love all over again

May we never cease to believe that with you on our side we can take life in our stride, take pride in your power and glory, boast of your magnificent story, cos our God saved us and that feels good, our God loves us and that should make people stand up and take notice, with you God no situation is hopeless, you light up the world in which we live and we give you the glory, lift our voices in praise, we thank you for your great gift of love and eternally worship your name.

Trying to silence a generation who will not be censored or repressed

Reading the bulletins from Open Doors you begin to see the enormity of persecution of Christians around the world.  I don’t think even one country is free of persecution.  Even in the Western world we see persecution even if on a smaller and less significant scale but being a Christian seems to single us out, people will hate and despise us.  But we should not be surprised about this God has told us throughout scripture that we will be persecuted and the good news is we are blessed, we should rejoice because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon us.

  • 2 Timothy 3:12- Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted
  • John 15:18 – “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
  • Matthew 5:44 – But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
  • 1 Peter 4: 12-14 – Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
  • 1 John 3:13 – Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.
  • Luke 6:22 – “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man!

Spit at me, belittle me, call me names, play your mind games, imprison me, beat me but you will never defeat me, one day you’ll see what I see, when Jesus returns you will drop to your knees in awe and wonder at my God, you will surrender to his authority, your eyes will finally be opened at that moment when he comes again, because you see I already know that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow and every tongue confess that he is Christ the Lord, I am not surprised that you revile me because I desire to live differently, you can exclude me, accuse me, spurn my name, blame me for your hatred, my God has paved the way for me to bear the scars of your hate for me, he told me to love my enemies, pray for those who persecute me,  injustice may surround me, I may endure abuse and cruelty but I know it’s all of a defeated enemy, his final throes of desperation to condemn you to eternal damnation, don’t give in to temptation to contribute by trying to silence a generation who will not be censored or repressed, I am blessed, the Spirit of God rests upon me, come see, come and see what God has done for me and then I guarantee your knee will bow at the power of his name, no more blame, no more shame when you turn away from sin and let Jesus in.

Your humble walk with the Lord will have its reward

My reading today taught me that Holy Saturday is the feast day for the hopeless; for those who have run out of possibilities and can do nothing to alter their plight. This made me think about the thousands around the world who are persecuted for their faith, imprisoned or alone with no churches or Christian family around to support them, feeling desperate with no hope and utterly dependent on God for rescue and support.  But as our hope is in him alone, we can see that because Jesus entered death he has provided the ultimate hope. Whilst it may be “Saturday” in the lives of the persecuted today there is true hope of light, life and joy tomorrow through God’s grace and power and my prayer is that all around the world men and women will realise that hope today and see God’s immense power at work in their lives bringing them their promised victory over oppression and persecution forever.

  • Matthew 5:10 – Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  • Psalms 9:13 Lord, see how my enemies persecute me! Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death
  • Psalms 119:86 All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause.
  • Jeremiah 20:11 But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior; so my persecutors will stumble and not prevail. They will fail and be thoroughly disgraced; their dishonour will never be forgotten
  • John 15:18 If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you.
  • Romans 8:35 – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
  • 1 Peter 4:12 –  Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you
  • 1 Peter 4:16 – However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name
  • Psalm 69:33 – For the Lord hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners.
  • Isaiah 61:1 – The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
  • Psalm 146:7- Who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets the prisoners free;
  • Psalm 107:14 – He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and burst their bonds apart.

Persecuted, knocked down, oppressed, let down, no voice, no hope, why have you forgotten me?  Persecuted without cause, persecuted for doing what is right, for allowing God’s light to shine through your life.  The world hates you like it hated the Lord before you yet do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that surrounds you, do not be ashamed for you bear the name of Christ, you are not forgotten, praise God light of the world, the Lord sees how your enemies persecute you, he is merciful and lifts you from the gates of death,  though you walk through the valley of death fear no evil for God is with you like a mighty warrior, protecting you from hardship, persecution, danger and the sword, his word reminding you that nothing can separate you from his love, he hears the needy, your cries do not go unanswered, the Spirit of the Lord is on you, bringing good news, liberty and the opening of prisons so you will walk free, he brings you out of the bonds of slavery, gives food to the hungry, your persecutors will fall and stumble, your humble walk with the Lord will have its reward, his word is your mightiest weapon and in it he says blessed are those who are persecuted for yours is the Kingdom of Heaven.
