Isaiah 49:16 -See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.
Or in other words, I will never forget you, see I have engraved your name on the palm of my hands. This week, as I start to think more closely of the lead up to Jesus dying on the cross for me, I think of this verse. As I think of how Jesus was mocked, beaten, tortured and then nailed to a cross I think of my name on his hands. As I think of the nails going through his hands, I think of my name. There’s a stark contrast in my thinking. Firstly, it is because of me that he had to go through all the pain and suffering and secondly, he went through all that pain and suffering because he loved me.
Today, I celebrate because a friend has given her life to Jesus. One more name who has recognised his great love and sacrifice for us. How many more names will go through life without recognising his love, how many more lives will be wasted because they do not know that they are so important to Jesus, so special to him that he has their names engraved on his palms?
God, 100% committed to you and that’s the truth, he’s actually crazy about you, he’s a God of hope, he fills you with joy and peace as you believe, he’s here to relieve you of all anxiety, when you’re tired and worn-out he promises you rest, you are truly blessed when you trust in the Lord, when Jesus died on the cross he had the final word, it is finished, the battle is done, the victory won, he’s alive, death could not hold him, alive and kicking he went missing from the grave and after three days he rose again, forever and ever he’ll be your Saviour, greater love has no man than that of our risen Lord, and that’s something I’ll always be thankful for.
