Behold I am doing something new, and that my child begins with you

I read a great prophetic word this morning which spoke deeply to my heart, that showed me God does indeed hear us as we cry out to him and he is constantly working on our plans and our purpose.  I want to spend some quality time with God over the next few days to see what he has in store for me, so I commit to “come away” with God so that he can lift me up to see my open door.

Revelation 4:1- After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, ‘Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.’

Come away with me, I will lift you up to see your open door, my purpose not about you but the lives you will impact, grasp the significance of that, I want to show you what must take place in your life, not just sacrifice but the courage to let me take control, faith to wait while the storms rage and knowledge to recognise my highlighted way, I am working in your life right now, trust me to show you the direction you should be heading, what I mean for you won’t pass you by, you are being perfected by me, rest with me, turn your heart to mine, listen and you will find me, I have great and unsearchable things to tell you, plans to prosper and not to harm you, be still and know that I am the great I AM, your God and King, behold I am doing something new, and that my child begins with you.

Insane if we ignore the signs that we are coming into the final times?

God is making all things new.  When we look round at this broken world our hearts cry out for him to return and bring us renewal.  But in the meantime take heart from his words that he is making a way for us in the wilderness, do not be afraid or anxious, trust in God’s ways and his love.

  • Isaiah 43:19 – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 : Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
  • Revelation 21:5 – He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

This world is so broken, spoken by all regardless of religion, regardless of nation we all stand in unison as we mourn our friends and neighbours, witness malicious behaviours, recognise that terror is a plague of society but I am at peace when I see that my God is making all things new, my God will return and that’s trustworthy and true, my God who loves us told us this time would come, his son died so that we would be saved from the plagues of death, so that we could take courage from our God who shields and protects us, Jesus son of God hung on that cross and the enemy could not accept that he had lost, he fights on in vain and we are insane if we ignore the signs that we are coming into the final times, heaven and earth will pass away but God’s word is here to stay, read it through, I challenge you and you will see that all these things were prophesised, man will live and man will die, but those who turn away from sin, who love God and let him in will become a new creation and know the sheer joy and elation of meeting with our Father in heaven.

God is doing new stuff

Was challenged today when reading about Lot and his wife escaping Sodom when reading that Lot’s wife looked back.  Disobeying God she looked back and became a pillar of salt… now I know that as humans looking back is part of our make-up, it’s what we do, sometimes as an excuse for our current behaviour/situation and sometimes maybe because we don’t grasp how exciting our future can be with God if we would just let go of the past.  Now I’m not saying God’s going to turn us into pillars of salt but it does make me think that if we keep turning away from God, looking back or disobeying him then we are not getting everything we can from him or indeed the best we can have.  So when tempted to use your past as an excuse or to disobey God because we think what we have now is good enough, think on, God wants the best for us, trust and obey.

Genesis 19:26 – But Lot’s wife looked back. When she did, she became a pillar made out of salt.

Colossians 3:2 – Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

Isaiah 43: 18-19 – Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

When the Devil makes you look at the past, there’s clearly something good in your future he doesn’t want you to see, forget the former things, don’t live in the past, God is doing new stuff, enough of the martyr, the sufferer, get right back up and see what God is doing, see the mountains he is moving, improve your outlook by reading God’s book, set your mind on things holy, forget the earthly issues and worries, you don’t need any of these, set your eyes on the prize and run the race, live in the radiance of God’s grace, trust God, obey, pray without ceasing keeping your focus on God’s amazing promises of joy, confidence, of courage and God’s providence for he’s about to do something new and if you keep looking forward it’s going to include you.

The new Jerusalem, a city of diversity, full of the richness of humanity from across the centuries

Our sermon yesterday was based on two passages in Revelation but it was the second one that stood out for me.  Now the message from the preacher was a great message but I sat there feeling very much like the preacher had glossed over the most important part (maybe it was just me felt that way!) but in a full church what an opportunity to preach and teach about how you get to heaven because it clearly shows us in this passage who isn’t going to get there and that’s agonising because there will have been people there (in any church) who need to hear that going to heaven is a two way thing, Jesus died for us but we need to turn away from sin and claim that victory.

Revelation 21: 1-7 – Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling-place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death” or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’ He who was seated on the throne said, ‘I am making everything new!’ Then he said, ‘Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.’ He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practise magic arts, the idolaters and all liars – they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulphur. This is the second death.’

I am making everything new (and his words are trustworthy and true), a new heaven and a new earth which means those who have enjoyed the second birth will live in a Holy City, the new Jerusalem, a city of diversity, full of the richness of humanity from across the centuries, no evil, no pain because unlike the current world filled with the rain of despair the new world will see the eventual and rightful reign of the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, full of indescribable joy.

I am making everything new, to the thirsty I will give water and my obedient sons and daughters will inherit all this, for I am their God and they are my children, but I urge you to see that whilst heaven is freely available it is unattainable unless you turn from your sins and OK this world can be unsatisfying and it’s tempting to thirst for something new, for our longings to be met right here, right now, but we know that there is a new heaven and earth and that through our rebirth we are no longer of this earth, but part of God’s chosen nation, his children redeemed, receiving salvation.

I am making everything new and that includes you, take courage and know that God loves you, believe in his redeeming power, turn from immoral practices, harbour no hatred in your heart, have nothing to do with magic arts and worship only the Lord your God, speak the truth, do not lie and God will satisfy all your earthly needs and more, just remember God adores you and yearns to spend eternity with you, search your heart and turn back to Jesus, may his joy be in you for his joy completes us.

Remove the calluses on my heart freeing me to love you God

God wants to change me and I want God to change me, sometimes though as humans total surrender is difficult, we sometimes like to cling on to our comfort blanket but we need to surrender to God to get the best he can possibly give us, to free us from the past and God looks at our hearts, he knows our hearts better than we do ourselves.

Psalm 51: 10-12 – Create in me a pure heart Oh God and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Deuteronomy 30:6 – The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.

1 Samuel 16: 7 – But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.’

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Ezekiel 36: 26-27 – I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.  And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.

1 Peter 1: 3-4 – Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you,

Is it possible to have a clean heart, can I start again, can you take this stained and broken heart that’s been apart for far too long, change it to sing a different song? Holy Spirit convict me of my sin, invite me into a closer fellowship with you, wash me clean, remove the calluses on my heart freeing me to love you God with all I have, change me Lord, hide your word in my heart so I will never be apart from your love, cleanse me, give me purity of thought and deed, bless me so that I will see God, I turn my back on the past on the shame of youthful desires, of clouded times without a God and now I am renewed as I walk with you, my heart melts from stone to flesh with the promise of your Spirit in me to help me follow your decrees and serve you faithfully, praise be to God our Father who in your mercy gave me a new birth, a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, my heart is clean and pure, I am sure of an inheritance that will never perish, spoil or fade, I am made new and I now know that with God all things are possible, nothing too hard for him who saved us, I have a clean heart, I can start again, I am a new creation praise God, Amen.

I let God into my life and I am alive in Christ

Reflecting this morning on how far I have come in 9 months since becoming a Christian but believe me also reflecting on how much further I have to go.One message is clear to me and has been since my conversion and that is that I cannot afford to conform to worldly beliefs and understandings and must keep growing, learning, seeking God’s word and will for my life and be prepared to stand up for God no matter what the personal cost.

Romans 12 2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.

God has given me a new song to sing and by his grace I have a new beginning, OK so I can’t say I have totally stopped sinning for we all fall short of God’s amazing glory, however when you hear my story you will see that sin is something dead to me, I don’t condone or excuse sin, I let God into my life and I am alive in Christ, at the start of an amazing journey, my intention to serve him, serve God my Father, to intentionally repent from all the stuff that represents the old me, the me condemned to an eternity in Hell, because, well because I was blind to God’s love, blind to his gift of eternal life, I was a sinner twisting the knife because I had missed the light.  Right so here’s what happened I thought that my sin was so bad, no miracle conversion for me so you see I just pushed God away, something for another day but he called out to me, held out his hand and let me see that he loves me and do you get how that feels?  Can you see that when you catch on that you are not perfect yet you are forgiven, you are loved and can become a new creation, the elation, the joy, the wonder that all the time you wandered in the wilderness, alone in the dark, alone and distressed, God was beside you ready to clean up your mess and suddenly you realise that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. He paid the price of your sin, yep, I am the daughter of a King, a King who was nailed to a cross, a King who knows all about loss and pain and sadness, knows all about the madness of this world and this King has won my heart and I am starting to grow in Christ, grow in Jesus and his word, he is my boss, my God, my King, he is teaching my soul to sing a new song, he is building me up as I walk his path he equips and empowers, I am growing in Christ, growing in Jesus and his word and I have heard that as I grow closer to Jesus my life will reflect his more closely and he is jealous for me, so now I see I cannot possibly continue to conform to the patterns of this world, I seek to be transformed, renew my mind Lord so that you will find that I reflect your will in my actions, my words and how I run the race, renew me and fill me with your amazing grace.

“God patiently works with his people at the pace they are able to go”

Doing my daily reading this morning and the commentary included the following

“God patiently works with his people at the pace they are able to go”

So following on from yesterday it kind of dawned on me that I have been trying too hard to become like “the perfect Christian” if there is such a thing.  When I came to God I was broken and that’s fine, God was happy with that because he can work with me to make me new and I would be ridiculous if I thought that I would become perfect overnight!  So God is telling me that he is patient, and he is going to work with me at a pace I can deal with, I have already given up so much in my life which has been a challenge, yet it does also feel good to be renewed in Christ and my determination to stop falling back into old ways has been endorsed today by this, God is patient and loving and he is doing this in a way that I can cope with.

OK so when you become a Christian it’s not like you suddenly become all pristine and shiny new, God knew what he had to do when he called you, God knew that you were broken, it’s not like he didn’t have a notion that there was some work to do, he wasn’t blind to your faults he knew there’d be times when you’d want to default to old behaviours, but that’s the beauty of loving my Saviour he is patient, calm and forgiving, he is a living, breathing example of love everlasting and he won’t give you more than you can handle, won’t judge you when you mangle up your priorities and fail to fall to your knees when things get tough, but God is enough, enough to fill the silence, enough to fill the void, so don’t avoid talking to him about the things that matter, whatever is on your mind make sure you find the time to have a natter with your Father, he’d rather you turned your eyes to him than spin out of control, he has a role for you, we don’t always know what that will be, but believe me he is working towards making you whole and how exciting to know that even though you are a sinner, God is no quitter and works tirelessly to refit you for his service, his purpose will prevail, every detail already itemised in his book of life, and you no longer need strive for perfection, just crave gentle correction and love from your Father above, who took you on knowing that you were flawed and how much more does his forgiveness mean when you understand how far you had fallen from his grace yet not once, never did he turn his face, never did he turn his back and that my friend is a fact, God loves you no matter what you do, through every sin and every blunder, through rain, hail, storms and thunder, so surrender to his love and mercy, you will never be unworthy to our God of Glory, he is here, involved and part of your story.
