Ask like you believe that he’s going to give

Was again reading the story of the loaves and fishes and reflecting on our God being one of abundance.  It follows on from yesterday’s Blog about our expectations being too small.

2 Corinthians 9:8 – And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work

We serve a God of abundance, and we should not forget that in our day to day life and our prayer life.  Ask big, ask from the heart, pray with trust and belief..

Ask big, ask from the heart, for a start ask like you believe that he’s going to give, knowing that he wants us to live a life of joy and abundance, don’t be so reluctant to request a miracle, it’s not like he’s not capable, maybe it’s a faith issue, a matter of trusting that mustard seed, not being greedy just helping the needy, praying for the sick, the poor, asking God to change their lot, to give it all he’s got, don’t let your humanity cramp your style, ask God to go that extra mile, ask in faith, when you’re faced with a mountain to climb, God’s got you every time, this is the God of loaves and fishes, so be ambitious as you speak, don’t be weak or stick to what you’re comfortable with, God can do abundantly more than all you ask or imagine, suppose you really trusted his vision, suppose you understood your role in his mission, ask and you shall receive, have faith in God, trust and believe.

You’re building foundations of love

Wow wow – so having blogged yesterday about being strong and courageous I had an amazing encounter in the afternoon.  I visited an awesome shop which do Christian and prophetic art and starting speaking to the guy who was serving.  He is a Christian and we chatted a lot about what their vision was and I just felt God telling me to share a testimony I had heard earlier that day.  So I shared this testimony and when I had finished he just said “I believe that’s a word from God for me”.

OK so that may not amaze some of you but for me I stepped right out of my comfort zone but seemed to do it so comfortably – and yes he was a Christian but God still wants to talk to us as well as others so it was a great feeling to know I was doing God’s work.  We then had a quick prayer which really blessed me, a hug and I left the shop feeling an amazing Christian connection with someone I had never met before, who lives 100 miles away from me yet God used each of us to bless the other.

So be bold and be courageous – Just Believe….

Just Believe

Just believe, oh yes God I believe and I received the most amazing blessing when I let you use me, when I listened to that still small voice, Oh God yes I rejoice that you use each of us to bless each other I thank you for this Christian brother and all the work his team are doing, you are moving in this nation, you’re building foundations of love and above it all you are talking to your people, revealing yourself in dreams, revealing your heart through creativity, art, crafts and poetry, a repository of awesome blessings just waiting for distribution to a broken nation, let us be that generation oh Lord, let us obey, may your word need no explanation to us in this generation let us be the ones who go forth and make disciples of all the nations as we travel towards our destination.

We are living lives of revival

I have started reading a book of Smith Wigglesworth’s sermons and the first thing that stood out to me was his saying “Only Believe”

That’s it, simple, in a nutshell, nothing more to this faith of ours “only believe”.  There are so many verses in the bible that tell us if we believe we receive eternal life, but belief is so much more than that.  If we have faith as small as a mustard seed we can move mountains, I think it’s about time we tapped into that power in our work here for God and that’s what I want to do.

Yesterday when praying and journaling I got a number of verses and messages from God and one of these was to “let my light shine” to have the boldness and courage to step out of my comfort zone and be prepared to tell others about God and about my faith 1 Peter 3:15 – But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect

So this is my short term aim, to become bolder at sharing my faith with people in my circle, the customers in my shop, my non-Christian friends and to find ways to do this naturally and in love and respect.

  • John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
  • Acts 16:31 – And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
  • John 5:24 – Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
  • Romans 10:9 – Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Believe, it’s as simple as that, believe, leave all doubt at the door, no place for sceptics, no time for thoughts infected with selective fears, no space for an atmosphere of mistrust or misgiving, life with God is for living, eternal life a result of his sacrifice, his gift lifting us from the place of no hope and that’s amazing some would say dope, we are no longer walking the tightrope that some call survival, we are living lives of revival and it is vital that our light shines, God forgive me my hesitation, fill me with determination to speak of your salvation, to be the brightest light shining in my small corner of the world, fill me with the power of your Spirit, empower me to witness, may I make it the business of my day, not overtly religious but reflecting your forgiveness, your love and your grace, let me be your face to all who I meet, greet them with your love in my heart, set me apart God to speak, let my passion for you reflect in my actions, my speech, my attitudes so the magnitude of your power will always shine through.

God’s promises intended to be kept

Luke 1:45 – Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfil his promises to her!’

Been reading Genesis 15 today as part of my daily reading and really it’s all about God’s promise to Abraham.  Yesterday I was watching a video of Priscilla Shirer, “rehearse who you are in Christ” which just emphasised so many of God’s promises to us and who I can be because of those promises.

I used to have a real issue with promises, as a child I naively used to ask my parents every night to promise not to fight, “I promise” they would say, later on I would be woken up to the sound of them fighting.  Promises meant so little to me, yet I kept going back and asking them to promise in the vain hope that one day they would mean it.  So what’s a promise?  In the past to me it was empty, hollow,  but something I sincerely desired to be kept, almost like I would keep going back for more and more because in my heart I knew that a promise should mean something, a promise should be kept, yet I was let down time and time again.

But now, since knowing God for a year I have recognised that a promise from God is something to be believed, trusted and cherished.  God does not make empty promises, God does not let me down, God is truth and love, God has already fulfilled many promises to me and I know his commitment to me is rock solid, based on truth and light.

Here are just 4 verses that help me to see God’s promises at work in my life

Beating addictionPsalm 50:15 – and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honour me.’

Baptism of Holy SpiritJohn 14:13-16 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. ‘If you love me, keep my commands and I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever

Strength to do God’s Will – Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.’

Losing Shame – Psalm 34:5 – Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.

Blessed because I now believe

Blessed, because I receive your promises and know they are true

Blessed, because I know you can, but more than this I know you do

You promise, I believe

God makes a promise and never breaks it

He will never leave me nor forsake me

God’s promises intended to be kept

They never expire, never lapse

His promises shine on my problems

His promises provide the solution

God does not forget his promises

The rainbow a symbol of his pledge

His covenant fulfilled

My life filled with truth and light

Promises that see me through the night into a new dawn

Promises that have depth and meaning

I am leaning on all God’s promises

I am claiming all his words of victory

And I am blessed for I believe

God is showing you that he wants to save you

Been talking to God about a closer walk with him, partially driven by a book I am reading where the author has some amazing encounters with God and partially driven by my desire to serve God in a tangible and fruitful way. I so desire to hear from God, to really know his desires for my life, to walk even more closely with him every day:

Hebrews 3:7 – So as the Holy Spirit says today if you hear his voice….

I have a strong faith and then I read about the faith of others, where God speaks directly to them, tells them a message to give to others and think WOW that’s amazing, would I have the nerve, the faith to pass on a message from God, particularly if it’s a difficult message for that person to receive?  I have been praying for Spiritual growth and talking to God particularly about hearing from him, I so desire to be used in that way and this morning the verse he gave me was Hebrews 3:7 just that one isolated verse, if/when I hear his voice, am I ready?  But then as I looked into Hebrews 3 more I was drawn to verses 12 and 13 and just felt that this was what I should be blogging about today.

See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today’, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.

“Sin’s deceitfulness” how often in the last year has this crossed my mind in various forms but often in relation to sexuality, how many people out there read the Bible and then say, but it’s OK being gay was different then, God understands and allows it now, it’s not clear in the Bible, Jesus never said, don’t worry I don’t think Jesus minds you being gay and so on.  Yes the enemy is the master of deceit and I feel drawn to challenge and support those whose hearts are hardened to the truth of the Bible, the truth of God’s word so that they too can be saved and have this amazing relationship with God.

Listen to God, listen and hear, I implore you not to turn a deaf ear or interpret his words in a way that protects you from fear, it won’t draw you nearer to God when you clear your mind of every verse or word that defines your actions as sin, when you fail to let him in because that sin of yours is causing you some worry, don’t hurry through the chapters that are challenging you, read them with a prayerful attitude, allow God to speak, allow God to explain, he doesn’t want to cause you pain but if you refrain from taking action and addressing the sin then you’re not really letting him in and when he’s not in your heart then you are apart, you are separated from God, from God who loves you so immensely, he created you, made you, nurtured and treasured you, hold fast in confidence, God is showing you that he wants to save you, he wants you to hear his inner voice and he needs you to listen, don’t come at this with a hard heart, closed ears and hands over your eyes so you don’t have to see, come at this with openness to receive all the great things he has in store for you, no unbelief, no trips, no slips or falls, today will never come again and God offers you blessings, he is your friend and I want to encourage you to pray about this every day, as long as it is called today there is an opportunity to say enough to your sin, and yes it’s tough to turn away from behaviour we’ve relied on every day but nothing is so tough that God can’t overcome, some of us were deceived by the enemy, believed the truth in his lies thrown out through jealousy of what he cannot offer, he thrills to deceive, God thrills to give, to provide, to redeem and God gives you freedom beyond all comprehension, Jesus died for your salvation so I urge you to turn your back on things that keep you apart from God’s love, and above all things I want you to know the love that I know from God, to know how it feels when he reveals his true self to you, to feel the weight of shame released from your body, no longer a nobody, God’s made you a somebody if you’ll only seize that opportunity.

Believe and step out in faith, partnering with God

Well another first in my Christian journey and, well just to say AMAZING, our God is awesome.  I was part of a small prayer group and we were praying for healing for one of the group from a long term issue with severe pain and hampered movement in her arm, it was suggested that we needed not to pray necessarily for healing of the arm but for healing of the root cause of the problem and that’s what we did and she reported pains in her neck and then a “release” of those pains and she was able to move the arm and felt only a minor discomfort (which we continue to pray for) but HEY God is awesome and I was stoked to think that God would use a small group of women in such a way and this morning I was reminded of John 14:12

Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

God gave us his helper, a helper who is ever present, who lives in me, yes the Holy Spirit lives in me, he’s there to teach and remind me, remind me of what God wants for me, from me and to do through me, I will do great things for God, believe and do great things, believe and step out in faith, partnering with God, mission impossible becomes mission accomplished, unbelief my only limit, my potential unlimited, I take a risk, it’s time, time to trust and obey and do all things in Jesus name, he is near to all who call on him, his power invested in his children, there is power in his name, power to accomplish all these things, let God direct your steps, let God provide your wings and you will soar like the Eagle and you will touch all people, healing hearts and minds for you are no longer blind to the truth that set you free and because you believe, truly believe in God the Father he promises that your works will be greater, his power in you a powerful weapon, you can genuinely serve as God’s reflection.

Seriously he brings us joy and peace not just at Christmas

Was reading something this morning about the Christmas story and how it is a story of a miracle that offers salvation as well as purpose, hope and grace, comfort, joy for those who seek and believe – found it to be really thought provoking sometimes too easy to forget the real purpose of the nativity – I have referenced some Bible verses below.

The Miracle Isaiah 9:6 – For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given

Purpose Luke 4 18 – ‘The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free

Hope and Grace John 3 16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

Comfort– Psalm 147:3 – He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.

Joy – Nehemiah 8:10 The joy of the Lord is your strength

Believe and Seek – Hebrews 11:6 Anyone who comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

The Christmas story

Miraculous, full of purpose, hope and grace, comfort and joy for those who seek and believe, for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, a miracle from heaven and he shall be called wonderful, his birth full of purpose, his objective deliverance and the Lord has anointed us to proclaim good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for those shamed and imprisoned, to give sight to the blind and to set the oppressed free, that is why he was born in a stable, that is how I am able to seize the hope and grace that God’s gift offers me, hope and grace summed up by his amazing sacrifice, for God so loved the world he sent his only son, a sacrifice for whoever believes in him, not a selected crew, a select few but whomever believes shall not die but live forever he never meant for us to suffer but through the plans of the enemy the human race fell, hell became a reality for those who failed to see that the miracle of Christmas, God’s amazing gift for us is real, freely given with purpose and reason, the Christmas season simply serves as a reminder of our brighter tomorrow, when his comfort will wipe out all sorrow, he will heal the broken hearted and bind up their wounds, revealing to all physical, mental and spiritual healing, relief from the pressures of our human frailty, Jesus came as a baby to bring joy and cheer, he is here now and the joy of the Lord is our strength, we are victorious in Jesus, seriously he brings us joy and peace not just at Christmas but all through the year, so have no fear do not be afraid, believe in him and you are saved, seek to know him, seek to find him, anyone who comes to him and believes in his existence and the reality of the baby growing up to be our Saviour has understood the greater story behind the nativity, God gave his son to set you free so you can see what the miracle of Christmas really is, God’s purpose can be achieved in your life through hope and grace he gives comfort and joy for those who believe and seek his face.
