Even I find myself more likeable

The fruits of the Spirit should flow out through us as the Holy Spirit flows through us like a stream of living water.  They should not have to be forced or worked upon, as we grow in the Spirit, as we receive the Spirit we become filled with the gifts and our lives are changed.

This should be an ongoing process, one that changes us for the better day by day.

Galatians 5:22-25 (CEV)  –  God’s Spirit makes us loving, happy, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled. There is no law against behaving in any of these ways. And because we belong to Christ Jesus, we have killed our selfish feelings and desires. God’s Spirit has given us life, and so we should follow the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 1:22 – set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

Isaiah 12:3 – With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation

LIFE CHANGING

Life changing, giving my life to Jesus, nothing more, nothing less, just life changing. Obsessed, stressed, an effort to live, searching for a direction, seeking correction, out of my comfort zone, hard pressed and challenged on every side, holding on by my fingertips, slipping, ripping chunks out of my skin, failing to understand that sin had me gripped, sin had me chained, but that all changed the day I gave my life to Jesus, he put his seal of ownership on me, freedom from solitude, freedom from living a skewed existence from following the path of least resistance, no longer distant, God loomed large and gave me life, his Spirit living in me, changing me, living water flowed through me, washed away the old me, created a new heart within me, I may not yet be the finished article, but the change is remarkable, and even I find myself more likeable, life more enjoyable, nothing impossible because God is with me, life changing, the day that God picked me.

No limits when the Spirit of the Lord is upon you

I was reminded today of the scripture which tells us our name is engraved on God’s hand and when I really thought about it was so humbled, God knows me so well and loves me so much , he knows my name and when my name is mentioned he actually knows everything about me.  It led me to read the whole of Isaiah 49 and these verses stood out for me:

  • Isaiah 49:5 – and now says the Lord who formed me from the womb to be his servant
  • Isaiah 49:6 – I will also make you a light of the nations
  • Isaiah 49:16 – behold I have inscribed you on the palm of my hand
  • Isaiah 49:26 – and all flesh will know that I, the Lord, am your Saviour and your Redeemer

I included verse 6 because that just stands out to me as an immense promise, we need to aim high, we can be the light of our family, our community, our nation or our world, God empowers us to be that light and there are no limits.

NO LIMITS

No limits, no limits when the Spirit of the Lord is upon you, you can never max out, never exhaust your options, nothing can stop your adoption into the family of God, formed in the womb to be his servant, accomplished and perfect, connected to God, part of the elect, my name tattooed on his hand now ain’t that grand, my name means something to Jesus he sees me and he knows me and if only all would get it, would wake up and see that Jesus is Lord, our Saviour, our Redeemer, I’m no daydreamer, believe me my God is real and nothing or nobody can steal that from me, you see he is shining through me, lighting up my community and I seize the opportunity to take that further, cos this is spiritual warfare and we are fighting for lives, fighting for souls to be liberated, roughly translated as people need Jesus and he needs us to show them the way, he needs us to obey him, to go fishing, to fulfil the Great Commission, people are sinking without trace, the human race is drowning in sin and shame our mission to tell them that Jesus came to save, Jesus more than a name a mighty God who took the blame when he died on the cross and we can profit because of his love.

Lost in translation

I wonder where and how the Bible got so lost in translation.  I wonder how people can read the following verses (and many more in the Bible) and not realise that God’s word is to be believed, trusted and taught with accuracy.  How much are we “wearying” the Lord by accepting practices that are against his teaching, by the times we say “surely that’s OK after all our God is a God of Justice?” Yes our God is a God of justice and he has clearly defined the law, the way we should live and we should embrace his teaching wholeheartedly, stop looking to interpret them to suit our own sinful nature and start asking God to help us overcome ungodly temptations and urges and  for the boldness to teach the truth in love and grace to our friends and family.

  • Romans 15:15-16 – Yet I have written to you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.
  • Malachi 2:7 – For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instruction from his mouth. But you have turned from the way and by your teaching have caused many to stumble;
  • Malachi 2:17 – You have wearied the Lord with your words. ‘How have we wearied him?’ you ask. By saying, ‘All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them’ or ‘where is the God of justice?’
  • 2 Timothy 3:5 – Having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

LOST IN TRANSLATION

We are God’s treasured possession and yet we seem to have an obsession with an interpretation of his teaching which is reaching to many with the appearance of Godliness yet denying God’s power, our leaders and preachers are there to teach us from the word of the Lord, the sword of the Spirit and yet some don’t seem to get it, a duty of proclaiming the truth and the truth only, so that we may become an offering acceptable to God, so we may hear his word, turn from our sins and receive sanctification by the Spirit, preserve knowledge, I believe that all scripture is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training but I am straining under the force of those who interpret the laws to suit their cause and we are wearying the Lord with our words, turning again and again to claim our God is a God of Justice and therefore he won’t touch this, yet he demands obedience, if we obey his voice and keep his covenant we shall become his, walking with him in the way he commands then he pardons our sins, we are one with him, yes he is a God of Justice and he trusts us to be obedient, not to relent in the face of adversity, to purposely follow his instruction to avoid self-destruction, to have a direction, a purpose to follow Jesus, he sees our struggles, he protects us from stumbles when we are careful to apply accuracy to our translation of salvation.

I wake, I pray and I slay, sword of the spirit in hand I prepare for battle

Been continuing to read Fervent and at the end of each chapter it encourages you to write your prayer for the subject covered, today I have been looking at focus.  When we pray it’s important to stay focussed and to me Ephesians 6:12 sums this up, we have to focus on who the battle is with.  However I found a number of other verses that helped me to write this prayer which I have referenced below.

  • Ephesians 6:12 – For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
  • Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things
  • Colossians 3:2 – Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things..
  • Matthew 19:26 – Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
  • Zechariah 2:5 – And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will be its glory within.’
  • Psalm 32:8 – I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
  • James 5:16 – The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective
  • Psalm 105:4 – Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
  • Revelation 22:12 – Behold I am coming soon

FOCUS

Father, you are coming soon, AMEN, Father I thank you for that truth, I praise you for your redeeming love, Father I set my mind on things above, whatever is noble, pure and right, I thank you for being the light of this world, all you have done is excellent and praiseworthy and only you are worthy of my praise and adoration, I thank you for my salvation and today I focus on truth, I focus on you and I see that the fight is not against flesh and blood, it’s a spiritual battle against darker forces and today I wake, I pray and I slay, sword of the spirit in hand I prepare for battle, where there is fear I give thanks, where there is anger I choose joy, I trust in your power and not in my plan and I know that a breakthrough is on its way, thank you that all things are possible through you, thank you that we know that our prayers are powerful and effective, thank you that as I look to you I gain strength, and Father place a wall of fire around me as I pray powerfully for my friends and family, as I intercede for others, for persecuted sisters and brothers, as I pray for my future, my walk with you help me focus on the truth, counsel me with your loving eye upon me, instruct me and teach me, free me to be a mighty warrior, strategizing against the enemy, focused on my purpose, determined, unwavering in my prayer, engaged for you in spiritual warfare.
