Your plans make mine pale into insignificance

I have been praying over the future of my business almost like where does it fit into the bigger picture which for me is now my service to God and I have a page in my journal now filled with verses and thoughts from God.  The main theme is trust but there is an overriding message too of letting my light shine, being a spark and God will turn me into a raging fire, that I can do anything if I trust and obey the Lord. So I don’t yet have a definitive answer but one thing I do know that if I keep turning to God and following his plans everything is going to work out for good.  I do now believe that my business is the place for me to let God’s light shine through me and that’s the first answer to my to see where God leads this plan.

So the verses I have are quite eclectic but very personal in many ways:

  • Proverbs 19:21-Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails
  • Psalm 91 – which tells me to make God my refuge and trust his timing, call upon him and he will answer
  • Psalm 119:105 – Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path
  • Hebrews 12:29 – Our God is a consuming fire (if I am a spark he can turn me into a raging flame)
  • Matthew 6:11 – Give us this day our daily bread (small prayer for big things God provides)
  • John 6:48 – I am the bread of life (God is all I need)
  • Isaiah 40:31-Mount up with wings like eagles
  • 1 John 5:14 – This is the confidence we have in him, if we ask anything in his name he hears
  • Ephesians 3:20 -He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine

Thanks God that you are the master of planning, spanning my lifetime your plans make mine pale into insignificance,  the difference?  You can do immeasurably more than I ask or imagine, you have absolutely perfect timing and your plans are all consuming, shooting me high into the sky, soaring on wings like an eagle, you have no equals you are above all we can imagine and that’s the attraction, your provision illustrates your precision, your desire to use us requires our trust and obedience, and this is the confidence we have in you, that anything we want to do we can ask and you hear, we need not fear getting it wrong for your desire will be done, you provide all our needs and as we read your word it’s like a bright shining light, illuminating our path setting us right, my plans no longer required as I become inspired by what you plan for me, as you gradually let me see a glimpse of my light shining, reminding me that a breakthrough is imminent, emphasising to me your power and magnificence.

May my faith increase at every juncture

My daily reading today from Joshua 23 highlighted 4 key things that we need to do to continue in our walk with Jesus, so we continue to grow stronger in our faith and enable us to stand firm when under attack

  1. Don’t ever forget what God has done for you and let that fuel your faith for what he will do in your future.
  2. Never compromise or weaken your obedience to God’s Word, as we get knocked and tempted in this human existence we must be careful to not turn back from our choices and beliefs which have been fuelled by our obedience to God
  3. Don’t only obey God, but love him with an intensity beyond all other things in our lives
  4. It’s not about personal performance and success, our success has been given by God and let’s make sure we give him all the glory.

God, let me never be so presumptuous that I forget that it was your love for us that set me free, may I never fail to see that my gifts are exactly that, gifts entrusted to me to be used for your glory, and when I look back at my story may I never forget the love you showed to me, the grace that set me free, believing that all you accomplished in me is just a fraction of what we’re going to see when you launch me into a ministry, and God when all around me feels like a battle field may I never feel tempted to turn back on your word, from all that I’ve heard from my time with you, may I remain steadfast in my obedience never deviating from my beliefs, rather that my faith will increase at every juncture, sure in my love of your word, solid in my love for you above everything else that I choose to do in my life, God I sacrifice all that for a friendship with you, to you be all power, all glory, all praise, I will serve and love you for all of my days.

Fear God with reverence and with obedience

Was reading about obedience and kind of follows on from yesterday’s post which relies on us believing the word of God and interpreting it as he meant us to, not twisting the word to suit ourselves.  So when we are obedient we reap great things, “consent and obey and you will eat the best of the land”.  Sometimes it’s tough but when we are tempted to sin we must take control, ask for God’s help to overcome, immerse ourselves in his word to seek his guidance.

  • Jeremiah 7:23 – “But this is what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you will be My people; and you will walk in all the way which I command you, that it may be well with you.’
  • 2 Corinthians 10:5 – We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ
  • 2 Corinthians 10: 5-6 (Message) We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.
  • Romans 6:17 – But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed,
  • Romans 13:1 – Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God.
  • 1 Peter 1:14 – As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance
  • Isaiah 1:19 – “If you consent and obey, You will eat the best of the land

Fear God, like don’t be afraid to come into his presence or shake at the mention of his name, fear God with reverence and with obedience, obey his voice, it’s a commitment to God, listening, reacting, obeying his word, controlling your thoughts to see the absolute truth, fighting the mind battles that say sins OK, we are no longer ignorant to God, no longer a child in our thoughts and perceptions, we must control our imaginations and sinful desires, we must not turn aside from the truth of God’s word, obey with commitment and thanksgiving, living a life of honour no longer conforming to former lusts which were held in ignorance, demolish all arguments that stand against the word of God, tear down barriers that prevent us from reaching maturity, desire God’s authority and he gives us loyalty shares blessings in abundance, these fruits you will reap if you remain in obedience.

The enemy is oppressing women religiously,

There is so much hurt and pain in the world, oppression and persecution and I was reading about women and how the enemy loves to target women, like really destroy us.  But then I got to thinking we need to stand up as one united army of God, women we have a voice, we can make a difference in our local communities, our nations and the world if we are just obedient to God and ask him what we can do to make a difference.

Ezra 10:4 – Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.’

Human tragedies, the enemy is oppressing women religiously, his plan depends on systematically destroying women’s identities but see we are free, no longer enslaved to Satan whose plan hinges on infringing our Father’s calling and as long as he succeeds in silencing half the population of every nation he has only half the battle, so let’s not let him rattle us, for God has already won the battle and us women we are not merely chattels we are called and prepared for this moment, more important than we realise so it’s time to rise, fall into alignment with God’s plan, women of God rise up, sisters of influence, untapped source of heavenly power, strategically placed here for a reason and this is our season, our time, faith filled women of God speaking wisdom, reversing the direction of Satan’s destruction, sisters release your passion, Father release and liberate your daughters, love without borders, a new order of faith filled women carrying your word on their tongues, rise up women of faith for now is the time, courageous women of unwavering faith, living in incredible times, light in the darkness, part of God’s intricate and perfect plan.

Obedience, like a language of love to God

Was reading about Joshua today and marching around the walls of Jericho.  Just spoke of how we need to be patient when waiting for God and also obedient.  How easy it would have been to not do what God instructed, I mean really!! the wall falling down at a shout, not so easy to believe yet Joshua believed and carried out God’s instructions, he was patient and his obedience and patience paid off. I too need to have a bit more patience in my walk with God, sometimes I just want everything to happen now and that’s just not God’s way, so I am working on developing more patience.

James 5:7 – Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains.

Colossians 1 10-12 – so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

Psalm 40:1 – I waited patiently for the Lord, he turned to me and heard my cry

Revelation 14:12 – This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.

Are you impatient, like just a little, do you skip to the end of the book to find out what happened, fast forward the film to see the ending, are you overbearing when waiting for a train, do you strain to see what’s happening up ahead because somehow you missed the calm head when patience was being handed out, do you yearn to know what God’s got in store, hunger to explore his plans for your life, to put it bluntly do you cause strife to others cos you haven’t got the button with patience written on?

God is patient, this is our God…

Our understanding not necessary, obedience required, this is our God…

Wait for the Lord, let your heart take courage, step out of your comfort zone, God makes it known that all things work together for good for those who love him, have patience, be obedient, this is our God…

Obedience, like a language of love to God, say yes to God, go on have some fun, take a risk, be radical, God wants you to have a go and there will be no peace in your soul until you obey, this is our God…

Patience, waiting for God’s unsearchable wisdom, the mystery of his ways, for him to complete the good work he started in us, amazing grace, this is our God…

Holy Spirit fill me with strength to persevere when I start to fear and take my eyes off God, when things are feeling hard let the waiting force me to cast my eyes to the source of my faith and assurance, this is my God…

May any trials cause me to persevere through deepening my knowledge of God, relying on the Lord intentionally, unconditionally, God is patient and everything will happen in his time, this is our God…

God, build my trust, patience and obedience, you never gives us more than we can endure of that we are assured, trust and obey, there is no other way for this is our God.

I reflect on how long I was searching for a Saviour

I thought I wasn’t going to blog about Christmas again however I have been doing the Bible Society’s Advent Challenge and today’s challenge is to read the Christmas Story and share with others what it means to me.  Having been to a Carol Service last night I had already been reflecting on the way home how amazing the story is when you see it from a Christian perspective and how this year my whole view is changing, Christmas now a personal celebration between me and God, a thank you to him for his generous and undeserved gift.

So thinking more, this is what I have written in response to what Christmas means to me:

OK so the person who stands out for me in the Christmas story is Mary, like who would want to be in her situation to have the hope of nations resting on your obedience, to make sense out of a message that must have terrified her, all her hopes and dreams on hold because an Angel told her she was to have a baby, really, how difficult would that be to tell your husband to be, we’re having a baby and he’s going to be called Jesus, you get the thrust, Mary had blind faith and trust, she heard what was said, OK with some dread in her heart no doubt, but then she felt the love of God, and that shows me that no matter what God asks me to do, I must be true to him, to trust and obey, to go the way he asks me to so that I can play my part in his story, I too can give him the glory so I strive to be more like Mary, to have a mighty faith, to trust beyond question, to obey God and follow his direction.

But other things make me sit up and take notice, this birth was because God was devoted to us, this birth was something to make a fuss about, when else have Angels declared Glory to God in the highest on a hillside to shepherds, this was unprecedented, God’s message declared in magnificence yet Jesus was not born to extravagance, not born in a palace or castle, not born in dazzling surroundings with all the trappings of princes and kings, Jesus was born in a lowly place, a space for animals to shelter yet what could be sweeter for the human race than a leader born to show his grace, a leader sent from God to spread his word, to live among us, so as the shepherds heard the Angel’s glad tidings so I find myself listening for God’s message to me and rejoicing that through his grace I am free.

And then I think about the wise men travelling for months in search of the one, searching for a Saviour and not resting until they found the baby in a manger and then I reflect on how long I was searching for a Saviour, how he never gave up on me, his gift of life meant for me was still available and OK I didn’t find him in a stable but I found him ready and waiting I found a loving God who remains with me on my journey of discovery and that tells me so much more than I could imagine, I have only seen a fraction of what God can do for me, and now I take time to seek him out to see what God wants to do through me, to serve him in totality.

So the Christmas story teaches me that nothing is impossible with God, nothing is beyond the realms of possibility and so my life can be whatever he wants it to be, I am open to receive from him but there is one more thing that I have learnt, we weren’t left on our own, God gives us help and tools to grow and as Mary went to Elizabeth so we need to mentor each other in our walk with the Lord, so we need to share in his word, to pray together, support each other so I praise God for the number of people he’s put in my path who provide love, guidance, teaching and advice, I praise God that he paid the price for my sins, praise God that he has all things in his control and praise God this Christmas that through his great mercy I am made whole.

He leads us through battles…

Wen to my prayer group last night and struck me that once we’d talked about who needed prayer it appeared that so many people are going through their own battles right now I would look and see what God has to say about this.   I suppose we could say life is one long battle at times but with God on our side we should be confident in our ability to fight the battles, or rather, hand things over to God so he can fight our battles for us and we can relax in the knowledge of his amazing love for us.

God says so much in the Bible about him giving us strength and victory:

2 Timothy 4:17 – But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.

1 Corinthians 15:57 – But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 60:12 – With God we shall gain the victory and he will trample down our enemies.

Joshua 1:9 – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go

Psalm 4:8 – In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

Hard times, tough times, rough times, that’s the time when he leads us through battles, do not be rattled by the things of this earth, do not be shaken or stirred, God gives you the strength for every battle, he will trample on your enemies and you will gain the victory.  Stop, pause and relax, be still and know that he is God, be still and consider this, God will be exalted among the nations, God will be exalted in the earth, God stands at your side and gives you strength, he doesn’t keep us at arms-length, he is at your side, he reminds you to be strong and courageous, do not be discouraged, be uplifted, be encouraged that Jesus fights your battles, the conflicts that afflict you are his to win, your struggles your strifes are why he laid down his own life, his sacrifice made so his message might be fully proclaimed and if we keep quiet then the stones will cry out in praise and worship, no kidding, the stones of this earth will cry out for our God will not be silenced, creation breaks out in spontaneous praise, our battle cry is to Jesus, save us from our sins, save us from our enemies and give us serenity, a peace that passes all understanding, for in peace I will lie down and sleep, for the Lord alone allows you to live in safety, and maybe, just maybe you should trust him completely, no battle too hard, no mountain too high for the King of heaven, the King of Kings, so sing out to God who has claimed the victory, he never gives you more than you can handle and when you hit the edge, the brink of despair, the dawn of your battle, he is there, he will not fail you in your time of need, you know as you take that step forward and you think you are falling he will catch you or teach you to fly, in your tough times reach for the skies and know that God surrounds you, he is your shield and your comfort, your security blanket, he is so in control of this planet, have patience, trust and obey, God is with you and paving your way.
