Someone did what you asked them to do

When God endorses you and shows you through someone else that you are on the right track wow, now that is priceless.  This morning God used someone else to answer my questions to him and to build me up.  Funny, before that happened I was praying over the verse in 1 Thessalonians that encourages us to do just that:

1 Thessalonians 5:11 -Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

So don’t ever doubt God’s prompting, if he is telling you to encourage someone with a word, a verse or something else, do it, it’s great to give and great to receive.

And for those who know me via this Blog you won’t be surprised that this word was an encouragement to keep on speaking the truth about faith and sexuality, to keep fighting the enemy on this and to shine God’s light into every corner of every broken heart until the truth is seen, and let’s face it, the truth is all that can set us free.

Elevated, lifted high because someone looked me in the eye and spoke for you, someone did what you asked them to do, it touched my heart, set me apart, rekindled my spark into a flame, life will never be the same, I sang and danced as the words exploded in my mind, God knows me, he’s heard my cry, all the time I was asking why, or how, or is this right, he heard me in the dark of the night he felt my fears, my concerns, the burning questions in my mind, he saw how I strived to find the answers and then in a blink of an eye he responded, priceless, an endorsement from God on high, a feeling of elation, a day of celebration, expectations heightened as God has lightened my load, showed me that yes it will still be hard but God gets that and will guard my heart, God knows yet wants me to go on, to speak of the love of his precious Son, to never give up pursuing the prodigals whose lives have been targeted by the devil himself, to speak of God’s immense love, to stand testimony to the difference God makes in our lives, to bring his word to life, to speak of all that he has done, to bring each and every prodigal home, where God’s rejoicing will know no bounds as each that was lost can declare, I am found.

God your love is outrageous, audacious, ferocious

Even as I was thinking about this verse the phone rang and it was yet another telesales call trying to sell me electricity and I get oh so frustrated when they won’t take no for an answer.  But I get it, God calls me to love anyone and everyone, not just the select few, not just those I know and it is, if we are honest, it’s a challenge.  How about you accept the challenge with me this week and try and love everyone you come into contact with just like Jesus did?

John 13:34 – A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another

Love one another as I have loved you, kind of impossible to do cos God your love is outrageous, audacious, ferocious, your love knows no barriers, your love makes me happier than anything, your love literally makes me sing with happiness, I confess that loving like you do is gonna be pretty tough to do, but, challenge accepted, you have invested so much in me I see that I need to invest time in you and do the things you ask me to do, so love one another, not just the easy targets like my sister or brother but what about the homeless man sitting in the rain, the guy who sweats a bit too much and smells like rancid drains, what about the woman who always stares at me and the kid who swears too much as he pushes past me in the street, the driver who pulls out in front of me, the telesales person trying to sell me electricity, what about the neighbour I fell out with years ago, what about the customer who jumps the queue or the bloke who ripped me off when he came to fix the loo, love one another, that’s a tall order but one I will honour as I seek to become more like my Saviour, today is the start of a new kind of behaviour, seeing that loving everyone means exactly that, love one another as I have been loved by you, God be with me and bless me as I work this one through.

Restoration of God’s nation, tribal revival

Was having some quiet time with God and the following words came into my head – Restoration and Revival.  Got me to thinking about God’s plans and how a lot of what I am reading about is showing all the signs of a major revival to come, restoration of the church and God’s Kingdom here in earth.

Jeremiah 30: 1-3 -The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the Lord, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it.”

Restoration of God’s nation, tribal revival, Israel rises up once more, the new Jerusalem, a mighty army mobilised for action gaining traction, bodies healed, hearts mended, love extended to all who call on the name of Jesus the Lamb who heals us, he feels our every heartbeat, loves us completely, loves us uniquely, pours out blessings with power and strength, calls on us to repent, turn away from the dark, walk into the light, turn away from wrong and do what is right, obedience equals forgiveness, obedience the key to our witness, a fitness to serve, truth and love from above, become a vessel for his love, love as he first loved us, love as Jesus loved, seek out the hurting, the sick and the poor, open the door and let prisoners walk free, open eyes so the blind can see, be everything God chose you to be, walk freely with God as your guide, he walks beside you just take a look, he is the rock on which to build your story, he is the anchor that holds you firm, a God who affirms your commitment, looks on you with excitement as you move mountains with your mustard seed, as you trust, obey as you truly believe.

Provide the obedience and God provides the power

I still get blown away by this passage which I read this morning.  Jesus prays for us.  Not only that it got me to thinking about how many people pray for us without us even knowing it.  Some praying specifically for us naming us by name and others including us in their prayers when they may speak about situations that we find ourselves in.  For example someone may pray,Father help all those battling addiction – that could be you?  They could ask for protection for church leaders – that could be you? You know we are so blessed by prayers, we may never know how many prayers surround us but we do know that the Lord Jesus Christ himself prays for us and it can’t get much better than that!

Jesus prays for all believers – John 17:20-26

‘My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one – I in them and you in me – so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. ‘Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. ‘Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.’

Driven by eternity, provide the obedience and God provides the power, obey and he’ll make clear the way, pray faithfully, believe, intercede for those who are separate from God, reach out, love unconditionally, God loves us in our diversity yet he desires unity, take time to see the wonder and unique beauty in your fellow man, entrust yourself unreservedly to God’s hands, complete confidence in his provision, God loves us immensely, Jesus himself prays for us to be one with God, interceding for us that our faith will not fail and God’s love never fails, he offers peace, joy, forgiveness, all this and more, he is faithful he will establish you and guard you from the evil one, he sanctifies us, he yearns for us to be with him and see his glory  he wants to rescue us from Purgatory he’s never stopped working,  never stopped praying for us, he is relentless in his prayers for all who believe or who will believe, he never leaves us nor forsakes us, Jesus himself is praying for us asking his Father to have mercy, to protect us from the evils of this world and bring us victorious to the joys of the next, trust him, trust in the security of God’s love, we may have trouble in this world but take heart, God has overcome this world, give me the words to express my love to you God yet also give me the words to express how great your love is for others so that no one on this earth will suffer.

Too uncomfortably numb to come to any conclusion

I am attempting to read the Bible in 90 days following a plan online.  I decided to make a note of any verses that jumped out at me each day and today I had four that stood out for me:

  • Exodus 19:5 – Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine
  • Exodus 23:20 – See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared.
  • Exodus 23:30 – Little by little I will drive them out before you, until you have increased enough to take possession of the land.
  • Exodus 33:14 – The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

So currently I am feeling a bit unsure about an area of my life and how I need to move forward.  In fact unsure is probably too weak a word I think a better word would be “tormented”.  Not sure if this is Satan taunting me or a matter of obedience to God and I really need some help and guidance from God for my future.  These verses do stand out though in showing me that obedience is important, God paves the way and will guide me to the place he has prepared for me, he will drive out the worries and concerns so that I can take full possession of all he wants for me and he is always with me and will give me rest.

Tormented, demented I feel like my mind is twisting and turning, am I learning to listen, am I blocking, afraid that what I hear will be too shocking to comprehend, am I on the mend or do I deceive my own mind, can I find your peace, can I feel your love surround me instead of this torment that’s drowning out all sound but that of a ticking time bomb?  Can I overcome or will I succumb? I am numb, too uncomfortably numb to come to any conclusion, am I suffering from delusion?  You know the plans you have for me, can you let me see, can you give me clarity, this is hurting me, tears stream down my face, I can’t seem to find the space to think, mind blinded by shifting messages, send me your messenger, give me peace, release me from this pain before I go insane, turning it over and over again, pause, rewind, listen, Father I bring this to you, quicken your hand, let me take possession of the land you have for me, let me feel security as you wrap your arms around me, let me pass this test my Father give me rest.

My lifestyle reveals my life source..

I seem to have been noticing a lot of posts or quotes relating to obedience lately, both in the Bible and in other books or from some of the Christians I follow on Social Media.  Strikes me that obedience is the key, and it saddens me that many Christians continue to sin or disobey God.  Now don’t get me wrong I am not casting the first stone, I know we are all sinners but what I am referring to is Christians who don’t turn away from habitual sin or who interpret the Bible in such a way that they feel their lifestyle is acceptable despite it being in direct conflict with biblical teaching.  I saw a quote from William Booth which I thought summed it up perfectly.

“The chief danger of the 20th century will be religion without the Holy Spirit, Christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell.”

We are called to obedience, we may not know the outcome of God’s plans but we have to trust him if we are to move forward with God and be effective for him.

  • John 13:7 – Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”
  • Corinthians 2:10:5 – We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ

I want to walk in obedience, I see that through obedience all things can change, like the great exchange, Jesus took our failures and in obeying his Father died on the cross, exchanging our sins for righteousness, taking our mess and putting it right, so being a Christian that’s not all about how high I jump in praise but how straight I walk in obedience, obedience to God an expression of my love for him, I walk by faith not by sight and by God’s might my obedience unlocks understanding and as I’m standing on God’s word obeying his commands he releases an overflow of abundant blessings into my life, yes I walk the narrow path, challenged to draw on my faith at times, challenged to pick what’s good and right, taking captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ, and I listen for God’s voice he is the one who keeps me on track, I no longer look back, I keep my eyes firmly forward on the Lord who died to save me, knowing my lifestyle reveals my life source, knowing that obedience to the Lord is not much to ask, he prepares me for each and every task, he never leaves me, he’s always beside me, I want to walk in obedience and I ask God to guide me.

Worrying’s like assuming that God doesn’t know what he’s doing

My Bible study this morning talked about the link between knowing, trusting and praising God.  I can clearly say that the more I get to know God the more I trust him and the more I want to praise him.  Maybe a simplistic view of the link between them but for me it couldn’t be truer.  Knowing God more intimately leads to a much greater level of trust which for me often leads to spontaneous praise because our God is so great.

Isaiah 30:15 – This is what the Sovereign Lord the Holy One of Israel says, in repentance and trust is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength…..

My life is full of love, full of great stuff since I met my God, since I got to know him and trust him, you see waking up knowing God’s on my side is enough, let’s face it David didn’t need to know Goliath’s strength cos he understood the lengths God would go to for his children, the giant in front of me will never be bigger than my Redeemer, I trust and am not afraid all it takes is obedience, God provides the power, just obey and he shows the way, I pray, I bring my hopes and worries to God,  leave them with him cos worrying’s  like assuming that God doesn’t know what he’s doing and that’s just rude, right now Heaven is having conversations about me, angels assigned to protect me, I align myself with God’s plans, stand firm with God, he holds tomorrow in his hands, let quietness and confidence be my strength, I can be living proof of a loving God so I trust in my deliverer and helper, believe that the creator of all that I can see has got his hands on his plans for me.
