I am but clay and every day you perfect your art

All to Jesus I surrender, wow what a commitment.  When we say that do we think through exactly what it means? I think it’s a tall order if we are to do it well, but one I want to be obedient to.

Romans 12:1 – Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship

Job 11:13-15 – Yet if you devote your heart to him and stretch out your hands to him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then, free of fault, you will lift up your face; you will stand firm and without fear

Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me

Matthew 16: 24-25 – Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.

Isaiah 64:8 –  Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand

Surrender, relinquish all that is mine for all that you give, entrust all that I am to you, my body is a living sacrifice, I offer up my life, devote my heart to you, I stretch out my hands, take all my sin, allow no evil to dwell within me, and free of sin at last I lift up my face, standing firm without fear, keeping near, keeping close to Jesus, carrying my cross, no longer lost, found, standing on solid ground, I am but clay and every day you perfect your art, transformed from glory into glory as I step into the story you’ve authored for me, my role, to submit to you completely, to do your will, to be still and know you, to answer, to follow, obediently go where you send me, devotedly do what you ask of me, willingly seek your place for me, faithfully live in the body.

The essential pause, learning to trust

Throughout the past week I have seen highs and lows but what happens is, when I hit a low I seem to forget the high, forget the lessons I should have learnt, forget that I need to turn my eyes back to the Lord before any action or reaction is formed to the circumstance I find myself in.

Trust – again and again I find myself coming back to this one word, trust, trust God, trust and obey, just trust.

I do trust God, I just think sometimes I act impulsively, forget to stop, pass it to God, listen and act according to his will. This is something I want to work on, the essential pause……… once I have paused, pass it over to God and relax.  After all there is Nothing in this world that can be trusted 100%, apart from our loving God.

What do you trust in?  Like what makes you feel really safe, secure and certain, in what do you have complete confidence, one hundred percent fool proof, fail safe, brain reassured, safety assured?

There is only one answer for me.  God died to set me free from all human frailty and only he can offer me total protection, this means handing all my human weakness to the Lord, all my hope, all my fears, all my questions, all suggestion of trying to handle things alone, he has shown me through his word that I am being absurd if I fail to trust in my Lord.

Believe in him, believe in truth, reflect on what he’s done before and how much more he still can do, he believes in you and wants you to trust him implicitly, he is ambitious for you, let’s put this simply, it’s better to take refuge in the Lord, than to trust in man (his word’s not mine!), the Lord will be your confidence, he keeps you from tripping up, fills your cup to overflowing, supports you whilst you’re growing, his Spirit fills you to overflowing, his gifts on you he is bestowing.

The importance of commitment.

I’ve been attending Membership classes for my Church and hope to take up membership shortly.  I feel this is an important step in my Christian Life and am looking  forward to being accepted, loved and to be able to give something back to God.

Am I ready to join the Church, to make a commitment, to submit to the care and authority of those God has ordained to watch over me?

What does it mean, what does it require, is it what you desire for me oh Lord?

Worship and learn, care for my sisters and brothers, serve my community sharing my faith with others. Blessings will flow from my commitment, my allegiance and obedience consistent with my new found faith, giving credence to my beliefs.

Yes, I am ready to commit, you have called, I pick up my cross and follow, time to accept the guiding, love and care that my commitment will provide me through my new, extended family.
