Joy, the echo of God’s love in us

  • John 10:10 – The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness or, as the Message version says- A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
  • John 15:11 – “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.
  • John 17:13 – “But now I come to You; and these things I speak in the world so that they may have My joy made full in themselves
  • Luke 15:5 – “When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

Jesus rejoiced when you became a Christian, all heaven rejoiced no doubt as the lost sheep was found.  The joy that Jesus had then is the same now, he rejoices over you daily and is delighted in your progress.  Can the same be said for you? When you first became a Christian you were filled with joy, are you still that joy filled person? Look around, look at social media, look at the press, look at members of your own church; how many Christians seem to have lost that joy, that excitement, that hope.  I said at house group just last week, I never want to lose this feeling of awe and wonder, the feeling of love and closeness to God.  No matter what happens, when things are good or when they are bad I will praise and rejoice in God because Jesus paid the ultimate price for me to bring me salvation.  How could I not smile at that, how could my heart not soar as that truth sinks in.  Sure, the world will get us down from time to time, but let’s not give the enemy the pleasure of stealing our joy, let’s rejoice and party right here, right now in the name of Jesus!

I will choose to find joy in the journey before me, joy is a decision, sometimes a really brave one about how I am going to respond to all that life throws my way, you see Joy isn’t about circumstances, it’s a position, a stance, I am joyful today because I choose to trust God, drenched in His mercy and grace I face the day with joy in my heart, set apart as a believer my joy rests in God’s grace where all things are possible, God restores our joy in the midst of our heartache, Isn’t joy just the echo of God’s love in us, a reflection of the love of Jesus, be filled with joy, the settled assurance that God is in control, the quiet confidence that all is OK and the determined choice to worship God  through every hour of every day
