Works a fruit of our salvation, not a means by which to earn it.

Reading further into James it becomes clearer that works are a fruit of our salvation, not a means by which to earn it. We must have faith and not deny God by our lifestyle and actions.

Titus 1:16 – They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good

Warren Wiersbe puts it in simple words by saying, “You receive the life, then you reveal the life.”  It’s almost like as a Christian who has received God’s love you are physically unable to stop yourself from wanting to do good works.  Your heart overflows with compassion, love and a desire for justice.

Here’s another question often asked, If you were on trial for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?  As Christians is it enough just to announce our faith or should we be doing more to evidence our faith, our changed life, our love of God?

LIFE RECEIVED

Life received, I have believed, I’ve seen what God has done for me, a new creation, elevation from my previous position, no longer a captive, no longer in prison, free to be, free to reveal the life given to me, longing to see justice, mercy and peace, wanting to be a piece of the solution and not a part of the problem, desperate to reveal God’s Kingdom to those living in darkness, desiring to bless, anointed to bind up the broken hearted and once you get started you just cannot stop, it’s part of the joy of bringing hope to those who need to meet Jesus, a natural progression from restoration to encourager, no higher honour than to bring Jesus to others, supporting our sisters and brothers, works a fruit of our salvation, not a means by which to earn it.
