Was reminded today how important God’s word is. Yesterday I had been thinking about the importance of being rooted in God’s word. How the more I knew of God’s word the stronger I would be, better able to respond to the taunts of the enemy and better able to serve God in whatever way he asks me to serve him. Today I was preparing the social media for Sunday’s service and was sent the Bible verses that were being used:
Isaiah 55:10-13 – As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush will grow the juniper and instead of briers the myrtle will grow. This will be for the Lord’s renown, for an everlasting sign, that will endure forever.”
Now I can say I have heard someone talking about the word that goes from my mouth not returning empty, but to be honest had not understood it in context. So not only do I need to be rooted in God’s word but also to realise that whatever God says is for a reason and will create an outcome. It will not return to him empty, it will be significant to someone, it will be of use, it will bring joy, celebration and growth and his word is a sign that endures forever.
As God speaks, his words breathe life, as God’s word is spoken death’s hold is broken, as God’s voice is heard the world rejoices, as God declares, the world prepares, for any word that comes out of God’s mouth does not return void, every phrase employed for a reason, to be used in this season to create a chain reaction, where the hearer’s actions will result in an outcome that we could never imagine, creating a situation where God’s love can break in, where God’s plans for man can be recognised, where God’s name can be magnified and where God is glorified, be rooted and grounded in God’s word, whatever he speaks make sure you’ve heard, listen to God and make time to receive, trust in his words, have faith and believe.
