Heart breaking are the only words to describe the news of the senseless deaths in Orlando how my heart broke when I heard that news, for the tragic loss of life and the sense of hatred towards a community who are loved so much by God. God came to save the oppressed, to meet with the broken, to heal hearts and minds, to reach out to those that society push to one side, how his heart must break right now. I pray we can pull together to support those who are affected by this, our love and acceptance is all we may have but it is essential in showing the LGBT community that God loves all of us, we can never make people feel that God doesn’t care for them, he cares more for each of us than most of us ever realise in a lifetime and as a God of love he wants us to reach out and support all those affected, let’s let his love shine through our response.
- 1 John 2:9 – Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness.
- Matthew 7:1 – Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
- John 10:10 – The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full
Love, powerful weapon of peace, arm yourselves brothers and sisters as times of terror increase as hatred figures more in a society which mirrors our fallen humanity, tragedy after tragedy in the name of freedom, hatred not the answer, judgement not ours to make, take our thoughts Lord, take our prayers, layer upon layer of questions trying to understand this obsession with death and destruction, Lord provide protection from the work of the evil one intent on carnage and ruin, move in our nations, Holy Spirit fill us, God surround us, protect us from evil, from the thief who comes to steal, kill, destroy, may you alone be our joy, our obsession, may all men see that you alone are the answer, remove their anger, give them a hunger for true freedom and a thirst for your Kingdom.
