Been reading about Jonah this week and kind of got to thinking about running away. I know that I ran away for many years but what’s so great is wherever we hide God is there. So randomly in the belly of a whale God is still there and he loves us so much he actually never gives up. It also struck me that it’s not just unbelievers who run away, perhaps God has something you want to do and you try to hide cos you don’t want to do it, news flash, you cannot hide! Wherever you go God has gone before you.
Psalm 139:5 – You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me.
Psalm 139:2 – You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar.
Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
YOU CAN RUN
You can run but you can’t hide, but why? Why run from God’s love? Why run from the one and only friend who stands by you to the end?
He knows you. Before you think God knows your thoughts, before you speak God knows your words, our God is so Big, so strong, so mighty, it’s likely that you will never perceive quite how magnificent he is, how much he wants you in his life, how difficult a sacrifice he made so that you would be in his life, your sins forgiven as the risen Jesus paid the price and you want to run?
You think you can, you think that whatever Jesus demands of your life is too hard, you think he hasn’t thought it through and is giving you things you cannot do, get real.
Jesus knows your limitations and he pushes you to the extreme if it means you’re working for him, if it means others will get him, thought the light shining from your core, from the passion in your voice, he rejoices over you with singing, start every day with that truth ringing in your ears, God hears, God cares, God is aware of all your fears, so don’t run, don’t hide, open up your life to God, proactively talk to Jesus let him walk beside you, let him lead and loyally follow in the path he chooses for you to walk.
Don’t run, don’t hide, Jesus has never lied and he promises that he is with us, he has gone before he hems us in from in front and behind so don’t find yourself in a lonely place, keep your eyes on Jesus’s face, the race is hard, the race is long but with Jesus on side you can never go wrong.
