He loves us now as he did before we turned to him

Seeking out verses about love I came across a summary of Romans 5:8 which perfectly sums up how I feel about God’s love for me,

“I loved you at your darkest”

The verse actually reads:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”.

So he loved me while I was a sinner and he loves me now I have come to him, how amazing is his love that we can say he loved us at our darkest in the same way that he loves us now as we grow in him.

I loved you at your darkest, at your weakest

I loved you when you were farthest away from me, when you wouldn’t listen

I loved you when you kept your distance, before you acknowledged my existence, took the path of least resistance

I loved you then, I love you now

I love you at your brightest, at your strongest

I love you now you’re close to me, now you listen

I love you now you draw near to me, now you worship my name, now you tread the narrow path, my name proclaim

I love you now, I loved you then

My love for you has never changed
