We are claimed with love

So a quick lesson for me today, from my earlier despairing poem, I remembered again those Bible verses for those needing to feel the love of God.  OK so obvious I know, but when we feel low we need to talk to God and listen to his word,

So I revisited the list and the next one blew me away, God wants to delight me with songs, WOW, surely that should be the other way round but I read it again and sure enough God wants to calm us with his love and delight us with his songs.

Zephaniah 3:17  The Message (MSG)

6-17 Jerusalem will be told: “Don’t be afraid.  Dear Zion,   don’t despair. Your God is present among you, a strong Warrior there to save you.  Happy to have you back, he’ll calm you with his love and delight you with his songs.

So I wrote this poem and hope to revisit this often to remind myself what a very great and awesome God we have and that NOTHING can or will keep us away from him beacause he has claimed us as his own by his immaculate love.

We are cherished and treasured by our God.  His love for us is so awesome, there is no bottom line, there are no parameters and boundaries to his love, once we give our lives to him, think of the most perfect, unconditional love, multiply enough times to blow your mind, our God blind to our weakness, attuned to our uniqueness, desires to complete us.

Once we have asked him into our hearts, nothing can keep us apart, he calms us with his love, he wants to delight us with songs.  Imagine that, a love so incredibly fierce, he was pierced for us, surely we should be the ones to raise him up in song, but all along he desires for us to be calm and balms us with his immense love, he delights in our return, happy that we have turned to him, delighted to cleanse our sin, rejoicing in our second birth, much singing in heaven as on earth.

  1. I used to struggle with believing that God actually loves me. At that particular place in life, I was still in immense struggle to overcome much sin and terrible lifestyle habits. One of the verses that really struck to my core was, “You are predestined in love to be blameless and holy in his sight” (paraphrase of Ephesians 1:4-5). Know that as you mature the up and down rollercoaster feeling does shrink significantly. That isn’t to say there is never despair, but to say that it isn’t so constant, nor severe.

      • I understand. We all have our pasts that haunt us. I struggled with a pornography addiction for years after coming to Christ. Not to mention that I was atheist, and struggled with doubt and unbelief for a few years as well. If people don’t accept you based on your past, try not to take offense. Sadly, I have found that some Christians are the least like Christ of all humanity… But, only some. God will deal with them in their time. Just rest in knowing that you are accepted in the Beloved.
